Pam Bondi’s Justice Department has officially launched a grand jury investigation into James Comey, James Clapper, and John Brennan, the key players in the Trump-Russia collusion fiasco, following a criminal referral from DNI Tulsi Gabbard, who presented the DOJ with evidence of a “treasonous conspiracy” perpetrated by the Obama administration and referred members of the administration for prosecution.
For background, on August 4, 2025, Fox News broke the news that Attorney General Pam Bondi had instructed the staff at the Department of Justice to open a grand jury investigation of former members of the Obama administration who were allegedly involved in the infamous “Russiagate” conspiracy, which involved the use of false information to portray President Trump as colluding with Russia during the 2016 election.
Notably, the emerging investigation centers around key figures in the Russiagate conspiracy, reportedly including former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, former FBI Director James Comey, and former CIA Director John Brennan, all of whom were mentioned in a criminal referral from President Trump’s Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, which was issued in mid-July 2025.
In a statement shared with reporters, White House Spokesman Harrison Fields explained the investigation further, saying, “Following the compelling case outlined by DNI Tulsi Gabbard, which exposed clear and blatant weaponization by corrupt intelligence officials acting at the behest of the Democrat Party and likely former President Obama, the Administration remains committed to conducting a thorough investigation.”
Continuing, Fields explained that the investigation “aims to provide the American people with the truth about the extent to which former government officials worked to sabotage the Trump administration and undermine the will of the American people in a clear attempt to subvert our Constitutional Republic.”
Moreover, as confirmed by the Justice Department, the investigation stems from a criminal referral issued on July 21, 2025, that alleged that Obama’s intelligence officials sought to “usurp President Trump and subvert the will of the American people,” according to DNI Tulsi Gabbard. The director added, “No matter how powerful, every person involved in this conspiracy must be investigated and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. The integrity of our democratic republic depends on it.”
In addition, after declassifying more than 100 pages of evidence that pointed to figures like Comey, Clapper, and Brennan fabricating the Russia collusion conspiracy, DNI Gabbard issued a warning: “We are turning over all documents to the DOJ for criminal referral.” Additionally, DNI Gabbard’s evidence disproved the collusion theory, leading the director to assert, “Foreign adversaries did not use cyberattacks on election infrastructure to alter the US Presidential election outcome.”

Furthermore, President Trump himself weighed in on the scandal on Truth Social, saying definitively, “Obama himself manufactured the Russia, Russia, Russia HOAX,” and adding, “Crooked Hillary, Sleepy Joe, and numerous others participated in this, THE CRIME OF THE CENTURY!. Irrefutable EVIDENCE. A major threat to our Country!!!”
