FBI Caught Covering For Former Director Wray by Hushing Up Election Plot

Sen. Chuck Grassley masterfully exposed Biden’s FBI by releasing records that revealed a scheme within the agency to stop the investigation of alleged Chinese interference in the 2020 election, showing that the bureau had covered up evidence that would have hurt the reputation of former Director Chris Wray.

For background, on July 1, 2025, Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) released a series of internal Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) emails that showed the suppression of intelligence related to a Chinese plot to interfere with the 2020 presidential election. Moreover, Sen. Grassley uncovered a report that contained evidence that the Chinese government was producing fraudulent driver’s licenses as part of a scheme to get Biden into office, and that an investigation scheme had been “abruptly” dropped by the FBI.

Importantly, Sen. Grassley’s case against the FBI stems from statements made during sworn testimony on September 24, 2020, by FBI Director Chris Wray, who said that his agency takes “all election-related threats seriously, whether it is voter fraud, voter suppression, whether it is in person, whether it is by mail.” He added, “And our role is to investigate the threat actors.”

Continuing, Director Wray explained in September 2020, “Now, we have not seen historically any kind of coordinated national voter fraud effort in a major election, whether it is by mail or otherwise. … [B]ut people should make no mistake we are vigilant as to the threat and watching it carefully, because we are in uncharted new territory.”

However, when Sen. Grassley released the series of FBI emails, he made the case that Wray had “provided inaccurate and contradictory testimony to Congress,” adding that the agency had “suppressed intelligence of alleged Chinese interference in the 2020 election to insulate then-FBI Director Christopher Wray from criticism.”

Continuing, Sen. Grassley argued that the declassified emails “smack of political decision-making and prove the Wray-led FBI to be a deeply broken institution,” adding that the agency “turned its back on its national security mission,” noting that it did so “ahead of a high-stakes election happening amid an unprecedented global pandemic.”

Notably, the emails released by Sen. Grassley include evidence provided by an FBI Confidential Human Source (CHS) alleging that the Chinese government “was producing ‘tens of thousands’ of fraudulent drivers’ (sic) licenses to manufacture mail-in votes for then-presidential candidate Joe Biden in the 2020 election.” Moreover, Sen. Grassley confirmed that, based on the emails, these allegations “were allegedly never fully investigated.”

In an alarming statement, Sen. Grassley explained that the declassified emails showed that the FBI had made a “sudden and ‘abnormal’ decision to halt the investigation” into the alleged Chinese election interference “and bury the IIR’s existence,” adding that the agency’s “stated reason for doing so was because ‘the reporting will contradict Director Wray’s testimony.’ Wray had previously said under oath that if any potential election interference was discovered, “That is something that we would investigate seriously.”
