Stacey Abrams Demands Christians Be Woke during Speech Suggesting She’ll Try Running for Office Again

Failed Democratic candidate Stacey Abrams made a series of bizarre statements in an interview, telling NPR that she is open to running for Georgia governor once again and pushing for Christians to be woke while decrying what she called “venom” used against groups like undocumented immigrants and the LGBT community.

For background, on July 15, 2025, failed Democratic gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams told NPR that she was considering another run for office, along with pushing for an ultra-progressive interpretation of Christianity that focuses solely on social justice-related causes.

Speaking to NPR’s Tonya Mosley, Abrams said that her faith guides her political career, but spoke only of social justice issues in the context of Christianity. She told Mosley, “I cannot call myself a Christian and not believe that it is my responsibility to help the stranger, to help immigrants, to help the dispossessed.”

Continuing, Abrams said that her parents had instilled her progressive take on Christianity in her at a young age, telling Mosley, “I watched my parents live those values that education matters, that faith matters, and that helping people matters.” She added, “And for me, those are the values that guide me, my faith first and foremost.”

Furthermore, the Democrat said that Christianity cannot be used as a basis for “the venom that has been turned against the LGBTQIA community” and “the way we have demonized the transgender community.” She added, “I cannot be a woman of faith who has read the Bible and just conveniently pick the passages I like.”

Moreover, Abrams stated that education “is a part” of her faith because, she argued, “I’m not expected to simply blindly behave.” She then stated, “The notion of free will exists because faith is when you have the information and you make the decision to do anyway, to do the things you need to do. And then ultimately, what ties it all together for me is the responsibility to serve others.”

Additionally, Abrams hinted at the possibility of a third run for office, saying, “I truly have not made any decisions and that is in part because there’s an urgency to 2025 that we cannot ignore.” She added, “My focus right now is on how do we ensure that we have free and fair elections in 2026? There’s a lot of hope being pinned on the ’26 midterms.”

The Democrat also went on to praise woke Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson for her recent dissents on rulings that uphold conservative values, saying, “She is telling us how we will end up where we are. But she’s also reminding us of why we are not there now.” She added, “So she understands that it is the responsibility of the judiciary, yes, it is to interpret the law, but you cannot interpret a law you do not believe has the right to exist.”
