Democrats are eating their words after their so-called hero, illegal immigrant Kilmar Abrego-Garcia, is returning to the U.S. to face charges over his alleged decade-long work as a member of a human trafficking ring that helped men, women, and children cross the border illegally.
For context, during a press conference on June 6, 2025, Attorney General Pam Bondi explained that a grand jury had found that Kilmar Abrego-Garcia, an illegal immigrant who was deported to El Salvador, had been involved with an “alien smuggling ring” that made over 100 trips across the border helping countless individuals get into the United States illegally, including, the jury alleged, members of MS-13.
During the press conference, the attorney general said, “This is what American justice looks like,” referencing what awaits Abrego-Garcia upon his return to the U.S. Moreover, AG Bondi explained that the illegal alien would, if convicted, serve a sentence in the United States and then “be returned to his home country of El Salvador.”
Continuing, Attorney General Bondi explained that Abrego-Garcia was allegedly working full-time as “a smuggler of humans and children and women.” She added, “He made over 100 trips, the grand jury found, smuggling people throughout our country. MS-13 members, violent gang, terrorist organization members throughout our country. Thousands of illegal aliens were smuggled.”
Importantly, the attorney general also clarified that Abrego-Garcia “is also alleged with transporting minor children,” adding, “The defendant traded the innocence of minor children for profit.” Continuing, she said, “There are even more disturbing facts that the grand jury uncovered.”
Finally, the attorney general said that Abrego-Garcia had allegedly “abused undocumented alien females” according to testimonies from “co-conspirators who were under his control while transporting them throughout our country.” AG Bondi also said that the illegal alien was suspected to have “trafficked firearms and narcotics throughout our country on several occasions.”
In response to the news that Abrego-Garcia was returning to the United States to stand trial, conservatives roasted the Democrats who called for his return online, with the X user Hugh Hopner writing, “Well, they wanted him back. Be careful what you wish for.” Another commenter added, “Their poster boy is now going to be charged with human trafficking-can’t wait to watch the furious back peddling (sic) of all the Democrats who supported him-this will be delicious!”

Moreover, according to coverage from ABC News, Abrego-Garcia’s hearing is set to occur on June 13, 2025, with a government motion confirming that “If convicted at trial, the defendant faces a maximum punishment of 10 years’ imprisonment for ‘each alien’ he transported.” ABC reported that Abrego-Garcia’s attorney pushed back against the charges, saying, “Mr. Garcia is going to be vigorously defending the charges against him.” In addition, the attorney said, “From the beginning, this case has made one thing painfully clear: The government had the power to bring him back at any time.”
