Border czar Tom Homan made it clear that the negative rhetoric spewed by woke members of Congress about Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers could put lives at risk, calling such threats “disgusting,” and reminding Americans that ICE agents’ work is actively saving lives by preventing deadly fentanyl from crossing the border.
For context, in an interview on “The Ingraham Angle” on June 3, 2025, former ICE Director and Trump border czar Tom Homan went nuclear on leftist representatives for “vilifying” U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers, saying that if such rhetoric continued to be used, someone could “lose a life.”
Speaking candidly to Ingraham, Homan said that the anti-ICE rhetoric of the left was “disgusting,” adding, “And, a lot of our congressional representatives who are vilifying ICE and the Border Patrol every day — they’re driving this hate. And, I’m telling you, it’s only a matter of time before there’s an incident where an ICE agent is going to have to take a life or an ICE agent is going to lose a life.”
Continuing, Homan said that under President Trump, ICE has been incredibly successful in its mission of securing the border, saying, “Since he’s been back, let me tell you what ICE and the Border Patrol has done. They gave us the most secure border in the history of this nation. Fentanyl trafficking is down over 50%, which means we’re saving lives from overdose deaths.”
Building on his point, Homan told Ingraham that thanks to ICE, “Sex trafficking in women and children is down significantly.” He added that fewer migrants have died under the Trump Administration, explaining, “Migrant death, over 4,000 aliens died making the journey. They’re not dying because they’re not coming.”
Moving on, Homan argued that “President Trump is saving lives” with his crackdown on immigration, adding, “The men and women of ICE are saving lives every day. If you look at the numbers, the numbers don’t lie.” The former ICE director went on to say, “The majority of people ICE is arresting are criminal illegal aliens — public safety threats.”
Clarifying his point, Homan explained that the illegal immigrants who are not criminals are typically “scooped up in sanctuary cities.” He added, “And you’re right, the world is upside-down when the guy that carries the badge and gun is the bad guy and the ones who break the law are the victims. It’s terrible. It’s just upside-down. It’s incredible.”

Homan’s stern warning about opposition to ICE came shortly after Department of Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin told Newsweek that during a protest on June 2, 2025, “Over 250 protesters verbally harassed ICE agents, pounded on car windows, and even blocked roadways to prevent ICE from leaving.”
