Speaking during the Republican National Convention, which is taking place in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, during a speech on the evening of Monday, July 15, Goya Foods CEO Bob Unanue said that if former President Donald Trump wins the election in November, he will help bring America “closer to God” and will, unlike Joe Biden, bring prosperity to the country.
As background, Unanue runs a Hispanic-focused food company, Goya Foods. He and his company were targeted in 2020, mainly by an AOC-led boycott of his company’s products, for daring to support the leadership of Donald Trump. The failed boycott spiked sales at the company, so Unanue jokingly made her the employee of the month.
In any case, speaking in Milwaukee, the Goya CEO again took a stand for Trump and said, “Four years ago, I dared to say that we were blessed by Donald J. Trump — a builder. But more than a builder, he’s a courageous leader, and he will bring this nation closer to God. He will bring strength to America, and he will bring prosperity back to America,”
Continuing, he spoke about what Hispanic Americans like him want, noting that freedom to worship is a key issue. He said, “The Latino community is diverse, but we are united in our values — values that include an unwavering faith in God, an abiding love of family, and a fierce work ethic. We want the freedom to worship, to love, and to work in a way that gives us purpose, gives us a reason to get up every day.”
He then related that importance placed on faith by the community to what the Biden Administration is up to, saying, “The Biden-Harris administration disrespects our values and has abused our community. They buried our businesses with inflation and government red-tape. They even used the FBI to go after traditional Catholics as if we were terrorists.”
Then, turning from what he was characterizing as essentially a war on the Christian faithful to a disastrously bad immigration and border defense policy from Biden, Unanue said, “They put out the welcome mat for drug cartels. Biden’s open door policy is all the more insidious because it is couched in soft terms like compassion and sanctuary.”
Emphasizing that that policy is not kind and helpful, as they claim, but rather extremely cruel and leading to abominable outcomes, particularly for the kids caught up in it, Unanue said, “In reality, it is cruel. Joe Biden’s open southern border facilitates the largest criminal enterprise in the world, which disproportionately victimizes Latinos, especially children.”
he then argued that Trump and Biden are extremely different, as one shows disdain and contempt for the American people while the other is all on board with loving America and her citizens. He said, “Joe Biden and his allies show contempt for anyone who disagrees with them.” He added that former President Donald Trump “loves this country.”
Concluding by speaking about Trump’s love of the country, he said, “He loves us and he knows how to build and create. He understands that lasting prosperity is built on a foundation of family, faith, work, and freedom — and not the quicksand of government handouts. He believes we are blessed by God, and with a firm belief that with God, all things are possible. He will Make America Great Again.”
