President Biden recently spoke on the White House lawn during a 4th of July celebration where he drew further concern about the state of his cognitive health. During Independence Day remarks to a group of his supporters, Biden reiterated that he is “not going anywhere” despite the ongoing calls from within the Democratic Party for the president to step aside and allow a more viable candidate compete against Trump in the election.
According to reports from Fox News, Biden spoke with the assistance of a teleprompter, and he managed to deliver his address without too many notable gaffes or slip-ups, only with a couple of exceptions. “I was in that World War I cemetery in France — the one that one of our colleagues, the former president, didn’t want to go and be up there. I probably shouldn’t say,” Biden said at one point during his speech. “At any rate, we got to just remember who the hell we are. We’re the United States of America.”
Despite the fallout after the presidential debate last week, where many Democrats have given up trying to defend President Biden’s mental health from incessant criticism, Biden maintained that he would not be dropping out of the race. At one point during the event on the White House law, one person shouted, “Keep up the fight. We need you!”
Biden responded by telling the individual, “You got me, man, I’m not going anywhere.” Biden continued in a confusing dialogue about his days as a senator when there was supposedly much more congestion on the highways and how the density of traffic has improved sense then. It is unclear what Biden was trying to convey in this commentary and how it ties to his overall speech .
“All right, all right. I’ll come back out when I let the Open the gate. Okay, thank you. Thank you. Thank you. One last thing, and I used to think when I was a senator, was there were always congestion on the highways. There’s no congestion anymore. We go on the highway, there’s no congestion. And so what? The way they get me to stop talking, they’ll say, we just shut down all the roads, Mr President, you’re going to lose all the votes if you don’t get in. But anyway, I’ll be back out,” Biden said.
After informing the audience he would return, Biden shuffled away toward the White House, where some claimed he appeared lost and confused. RNC Research, an X account maintained by the Republican National Committee, shared footage of the incident with the caption, “Biden says he’s “not going anywhere,” then starts rambling about traffic congestion, gets confused, and leaves.”
Users on social media reacted with concern toward the clip of Biden, where he displayed some of the same worrisome behavior as the debate performance against former President Trump. One person wrote, “How has Biden lived at the White House for almost 4 years and still can’t find his way inside?!” Another person added, “He is doing great. He should stay in the race.” Watch the clip of Biden below:
Following the CNN presidential debate, there has been significant conversations among Democrats in the mainstream media about the path forward to the election. Many have called on President Biden to pass the torch to a candidate with greater chances of defeating former President Donald Trump in November. However, as demonstrated in his recent statements, Biden appears reluctant to concede.
