Shortly after he debated President Joe Biden on Thursday night, former President Donald Trump appeared for a rally in Chesapeake, Virginia, speaking to a massive crowd in the Old Dominion, a state that hasn’t been won by a Republican since George W. Bush’s second term. Trump was joined for the debate by potential VP Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin. As they waited for Trump, many in attendance at the rally spoke to Fox News Digital about President Joe Biden’s sorry performance in the debate.
As background, President Biden was a disaster on the debate stage. Despite both CNN moderators being leftists and the rules, such as the microphones being cut off if the candidates tried going over their time, seeming tailor-made to target Trump, Biden still flubbed the debate and struggled to make anything approaching convincing points.
Such is what those who waited for Trump to speak said when speaking to Fox News Digital. For example, Virginia Beach resident Anna Sprouse said that she was pleasantly surprised by CNN’s relatively fair-handed treatment of the candidates, not overly favoring Biden, but that she was convinced that President Biden isn’t up for the job.
Ms. Sprouse said, “I’m gonna give CNN some credit for being honest. I thought they were pretty nice to Trump. I think it went really well.” She continued, “Unfortunately, Biden is not physically able to be the president. I think that his family should take him home. I think he needs to retire, and I think Trump needs to take it back. I think he needs to make everything great again.”
Similarly, Brick, New Jersey resident Edward Young, who traveled hundreds of miles to hear Trump speak, said that the debate would mean the end of Biden. Mr. Young said, “Biden’s toast. He’s finished. He’s gone.” He continued, “Not only can’t he be the candidate, but he can’t continue as president. I predict he’s going to resign by the end of the week.”
Continuing, Mr. Young added that it was impressive how former President Trump was able to blow President Biden out of the water despite the CNN rules seeming tailor-made to help Biden look better. He said, “They put all these restrictions on Trump, and he looked just fine. They get mad at him. They can’t understand his New York attitude.”
Another Virginian, Kevin Gaudet, said, that Biden’s sorry performance was “a shame” that makes Ameria look bad on the world stage. He said, “It was a shame,” Gaudet said. “Our president of the United States [was] basically disgraced on the world stage. Fumbling on every other word that he was saying. Every time he came up with a number, he was picking a new number.”
Continuing, he noted that Biden was often unintelligible, saying, “I don’t think he knew what he was talking about half the time.” Continuing, he contrasted that terrible Biden performance with Trump doing a good job, saying, “I think Trump did an excellent job. He kept his cool. He didn’t get upset. He was truly presidential this time versus ’16. He’s had my vote from day one.”
