The mother of Rachel Morin, a Maryland mother of five who was allegedly murdered by an illegal immigrant, Victor Martinez Hernandez, appeared on Fox News to call out the shockingly “impersonal” response that the Biden Administration had to her daughter’s horrific murder. She particularly called out Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas’ failure to address her by name.
As background, Ms. Morin was taking a hike near her home when she was allegedly set upon by illegal immigrant Victor Martinez Hernandez. Hernandez, who allegedly raped her before murdering her, has been charged by law enforcement authorities with first-degree murder and first-degree rape. The charges finally came after a 10-month-long investigation into Ms. Morin’s murder.
Then, appearing on CNN after the charges against Hernandez was announced, DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas didn’t even say Ms. Morin’s name. Rather, Mayorkas said, when asked about her death, “Of course, our hearts break for the children, the families, the loved ones, the friends, of the individual who was murdered, the woman, the mother.”
Patty Morin, mother of Rachel Morin, appeared on “The Ingraham Angle” on Wednesday, June 19 to take Mayorkas and the Biden Administration generally to task over the murder. The grieving mother said, commenting on Mayorkas’ statement, that it was a “completely political statement” and he was “not even willing to acknowledge that (Rachel) was a female, that she was a mother (and) a daughter.” She added, “It totally depersonalizes her and makes her an object.”
She continued, saying that real American citizens are the backbone of the country. Beginning that comment, she said, “My message is that these are American citizens. These are the people that help to strengthen our country. These are the men and women that keep our country going, our economy going, our families, our churches,”
Continuing, Morin said. “This is the backbone of America. Are who? Us Americans.” She then further raked Team Biden over the coals for its response to her daughter’s death, saying, “And to not even acknowledge that my daughter is a person or, that she’s a female or that she’s a mother, like to categorize her as a statistic. It’s just it just shows how impersonal that they are … how they don’t value life.”
She added, commenting on her family’s grieving and the terrible loss Rachel’s murder caused her, “It never leaves our minds that Rachel is gone because of all the things that we do in our life that she was a part of. We’re constantly reminded of Rachel, and it just makes you feel so sad because there’s such a hole in our family.”

The Biden Administration, for its part, released an impersonal, belated statement to Fox News, saying, “We extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Rachel Morin. We cannot comment on active law enforcement cases. But fundamentally, we believe that people should be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law if they are found to be guilty.”
