Since Joe Biden took office and effectively undid all of the work of the Trump Administration, America has been in a tailspin. The economy is terrible, inflation is high, crime is spiking, and energy costs are through the roof. Socially, the nation is more divided than ever despite Biden’s promises of unity. At the Southern border, however, is where Biden has done the most damage.
President Trump, despite being blocked by Democrats from finishing a border wall, had illegal immigration reasonably in check. Since 2020, however, illegal immigration has exploded to the point it has become a burden on the entire country rather than just the border towns in Texas. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have largely sat on their hands and blamed Republicans, including Trump, for the crises, but it has gotten so bad that they have finally been pressed into action.
A newly unveiled border bill, which in reality is a back-door aid bill for the conflict in Eastern Europe, was presented as a solution to the border crisis, ostensibly giving Biden the power to close the border. The problem is Biden already has the power to do everything at the border that Democrats claim the legislation will provide. House Republicans have vowed that the bill is dead on arrival, with many speaking out against the measure.
On Sunday, House Majority Leader Steve Scalise spoke in no uncertain terms about the future of the wasteful bill. He said: “Let me be clear: The Senate Border Bill will NOT receive a vote in the House. Here’s what the people pushing this ‘deal’ aren’t telling you: It accepts 5,000 illegal immigrants a day and gives automatic work permits to asylum recipients—a magnet for more illegal immigration.”
In fact, there are a number of measures in the bill that would encourage more illegal immigration. The proposed legislation is accompanied by a “multi-billion-dollar appropriations bill intended to fund the resources needed to register, release, transport, and house migrants in American coastal cities and inland communities.” In short, Democrats want to hire and train more people to intake and release migrants into the country where many simply vanish.
House Speaker Mike Johnson has also declared that the bill would be “dead on arrival.” He said: “I’ve seen enough. This bill is even worse than we expected, and won’t come close to ending the border catastrophe the President has created. As the lead Democrat negotiator proclaimed: Under this legislation, ‘the border never closes.’ If this bill reaches the House, it will be dead on arrival.”
Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) also had harsh criticism for the measure. She echoed Johnson and Scalise by saying, “This Joe Biden/Chuck Schumer Open Border Bill is an absolute non-starter and will further incentivize thousands of illegals to pour in across our borders daily. House Republicans have already passed HR2 – the Secure Our Border Act, which would actually secure the border and return to the effective Trump policies with the most secure border in our nation’s history.”
Watch red state governors meet at the border and vow to defend it here:
President Trump has promised border security will be a day-one job if he is reelected, including mass deportations. Biden and company still have time to address their disastrous border, but it isn’t going to happen with bad legislation and back-door funding for Ukraine. The only certainty is something needs to be done, and waiting for an election year might backfire for Joe Biden and the Democrats.
