According to a recent poll from the Wall Street Journal, former President Donald Trump and Joe Biden are neck and neck going into the 2024 election. Unsurprisingly, woke Democrats are not handling this news very well, shocked that indictments and other attacks against Trump haven’t slowed him down.
The results of the WSJ’s poll found that a rematch between President Biden and Donald Trump would have the two candidates split down the middle, with 46 percent of the vote going to each. ABC host George Stephanopoulos described the results as “shocking” considering the legal battle Trump is undergoing.
Stephanopoulos said, “It is kind of shocking in a way that despite all of the baggage that Donald Trump carries, he’s tied with Joe Biden right now.” The ABC host added, “With every passing month, with every new indictment, Donald Trump seems to be consolidating his control over the Republican Party.” He continued, “Republicans almost unanimously on that stage several days ago would vote for a convicted felon. Did you ever think you’d see the day?”
Many feel the Democratic establishment is fighting tooth and nail to prevent Trump from taking back the Oval Office. However, this is clearly backfiring as Trump’s support only grows stronger as the state continues to attack him. As Former Democratic National Committee chair Donna Brazile put it, “When I looked at that recent poll, the Wall Street Journal, I said, ‘this could keep me up at night.”
Republican voters are backing the former president regardless of the “baggage” Stephanopoulos claims Trump has. Looking at the primary polls, Trump is far ahead of any other potential Republican nominee. Trump’s support is so strong within his party that he even elected to skip the first Republican primary debate.
Conservative panelist Reihan Salam said, “The truth is that we are in a very polarized moment. And when you’re looking at the Republican Party, it is strikingly unified. If you look at the most conservative voters and the party, they back the former president disproportionately. If you look at more moderate voters, female Republican primary voters, he just really has a lock on both wings of the party, so to speak. And that’s something that any rival has to appreciate it and respect.”
Other liberals are worried about the legal implications of Trump being elected in 2024. CNN senior legal analyst Elie Honig posited that Trump could throw out all legal action against him if he takes the executive office.
“He has to be convicted, which could well happen. I actually think it’s quite possible. Then he has to be sentenced to prison, which I think in any of those three cases [excluding the New York indictment] is likely. Then, though, if he wins the election, forget it. If he wins the election, he’ll throw out the DOJ cases, he’ll pardon himself,” the legal analyst explained.
Trump has even hinted at taking revenge against his political adversaries if he is elected in the upcoming election. In a fiery Truth Social post, the former president stated, ” The Dems don’t want to run against me or they would not be doing this unprecedented weaponization of “Justice.” BUT SOON, IN 2024, IT WILL BE OUR TURN. MAGA!”
