Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) was captured on video telling a bald-faced lie when confronted by a conservative reporter about past comments she made about how Americans should “be more fearful of White men.” When the reporter attempted to press her for the meaning of her comments, Omar denied ever saying such a thing.
This prompted a peal of laughter from the reporter who reminded Omar that there was a video clip of her saying those very words during an interview floating around the internet. Still, the Minnesota Democrat continued to deny her own words. “I never said that,” Omar told the reporter as they quickly walked down a long hallway.
The reporter, giggling, replied, “Yeah. You’re on video saying it.” A now-viral post containing a video of the reporter’s confrontation with Omar then cuts to the original statement the Democratic congresswoman made. “I would say our country should be more fearful of White men across our country because they are actually causing most of the deaths within this country,” Omar said in a 2018 interview with Al Jazeera.
Once again, Omar denied making the comments. “No, I did not,” she said, causing the reporter to laugh at the absurdity of her lie in the face of clear evidence to the contrary. The Minnesota Democrat then said, “Again, this is like what I said, you need to prepare yourself because you can’t continue embarrassing yourself like this.”
According to a report from Fox News, the original remarks made by Omar came in response to questions concerning the threat of domestic terrorism and jihadism in the United States. “And so, if fear was the driving force of policies to keep America safe, Americans safe inside of this country, we should be profiling, monitoring and creating policies to fight the radicalization of white men,” Omar said during the interview with Al Jazeera.
The comments sparked a stern rebuke from Vice President JD Vance who took to X at the time and said, “This isn’t just sick; it’s actually genocidal language. What a disgrace this person is.” Omar attempted to defend her statement in a response to Vance, saying that her remarks were “referring to the rise of white nationalism in an annual report issued by the Anti-Defamation League that said white supremacists were responsible for 78 percent of ‘extremist-related murders.’”
“PS you should look up what ‘genocidal’ actually means when you’re actively supporting a genocide taking place in Gaza,” Omar, who has been an extremely vocal advocate for the Palestinians in Gaza, went on to add. The comment section of the Facebook post containing the video featured a number of zingers and solid observations about Omar and the ridiculous denial of her previous statements.

“Would have been epic if she pulled it up on YouTube and played it right in front of her,” one user wrote in a post. Another individual said, “She’s not part of this country; she doesn’t like our country, she only likes the money she’s able to make here.” Someone else compared Omar’s deceptive nature to that of a snake, writing, “The snake will lie to your face and bite you in the back as you turn. There is only one thing it knows how to do. Deceive.”
