In an epic moment that followed the announcement of charges being brought against not just Letitia James, but also Kathy Hochul, Trump Administration Attorney General Pam Bondi commented on the matter again and agreed that a “new sheriff” is in town, her, who is going to take the fight not just to New York City, but to every sanctuary city.
That came when, during the ongoing CPAC event, she was asked about whether she was the “new sheriff” as shown by her bringing charges against James and Hochul while threatening all of the You sued Leticia James and New York, and you said, ‘enough of the sanctuary cities,’ right and they’re kicking and screaming right now, but this is a new sheriff in town…?”
She agreed, noting first that she also sued New York Governor Kathy Hochul alongside New York Attorney General Letitia James, saying, “Yeah, and Kathy Hochul.” Continuing, she noted that she first went after not New York City and New York state, but after Chicago and the state of Illinois, so this is more of a campaign against the sanctuary cities than a one-off.
Commenting on that, AG Bondi noted that her office had warned every sanctuary city with that suit against Chicago and Illinois and told the law-breaking cities that they would be taken to task if they didn’t listen to the “new sheriff.” She said, “And so we started, of course, with Illinois. Chicago, and the state of Illinois. And what did we say? ‘If you don’t listen, you’re next. You’re going to follow federal law.'”
Continuing, she noted that New York had ignored that warning, and so it was sued, something that should serve as a warning to every state or city that might do likewise. She said, “And New York ignored us, and they were next. And then if you’re another state, and you’re not listening, we’re speaking loud and clear, you’re going to be next. It’s pretty basic.”
Explaining what the purpose of these prosecutions is, Bondi noted that many of America’s cities have turned into anarchic hellholes because of sanctuary city policies that allow illegal immigrants to set up shop in America without fear of deportation, and that the Trump Administration wants to reverse that trend.
Commenting on some of the more obvious examples of that dangerous decline, AG Bondi said, “We want to protect the citizens of not only their states, but every state in this country, you know. And when you’re seeing just New York alone, Benny, look at all the violent crime happening. Look on the subways, look on the streets.”

Concluding, Bondi expressed shock that the sanctuary jurisdictions are still protecting illegals such as the killer of Laken Riley, saying, “Yet they’re protecting people. Laken Riley is one of countless young women and kids and adults who have been killed by these violent gangs that are in our country, and no state is going to protect a criminal no longer.”
