As should be expected of the far-left Squad, one of its members decided to spend Thanksgiving launching a screed against the Trump Administration’s crackdown on illegal immigration, particularly the deportation operations being carried out by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.
That was Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley (D-MA), who accused the administration of having abducted thousands of people, saying that those families were, as a result, spending Thanksgiving with open seats left by the Trump Administration’s efforts. Ignored in her angry screed was that they were missing because they were deported, as they were here illegally.
In her tirade of a post attacking ICE’s hard work and like efforts, she said, “This Thanksgiving, I’m thinking of our neighbors with an empty seat at the dinner table. Those with loved ones abducted & deported from their families. Those we lost due to gun violence, mass incarceration, & more. A more just America is possible, if we fight for it.”
Commenters skewered her, writing things like “This Thanksgiving I am remembering all the empty seats at the table due to their murders by illegal invaders” and “they should have thought about that before they committed crimes!! didn’t think about them at all while we enjoyed our dinners and holiday!! glad there back home safely!!!”
Many others left similar messages, saying things like, “I’m thinking about the cacophony of traitors like you to whom this day is meaningless because you’ve never been thankful for a single thing” and “This Thanksgiving, I’m thinking of our neighbors with an empty seat at the dinner table. Those like Iryna Zarutska, murdered by career criminals set loose by Democrats. Those butchered by violent illegal aliens, like Jocelyn Nungaray and Laken Riley. A safer America is possible. And we’re gonna fight for it.”
Yet others attacked her by saying things like “You’re the literal worst. I hope your life is spent in federal prison” and “This Thanksgiving, I’m thinking about two national guardsmen who were shot You are partly responsible for the hate and rhetoric you constantly spread The national guard are not gestapo”.
Pressley launched other tirades around Thanksgiving as well. The day after, for example, she wrote, “Donald Trump lied when he promised to lower costs. And as shoppers hit the stores today, they’re seeing higher costs for the goods they want to purchase. His economic policies are failing us. Billionaires are wealthier than ever. And working people are footing the bill.”

Similarly, the day before, she attacked Trump for trying to deport Haitians, saying, “Haiti is grappling with an unspeakable humanitarian crisis that is worsening daily. To deport 350,000 of our neighbors back there is unconscionable and could be a death sentence. The Trump Administration must reverse course & stop operating with cruel disregard for human life.”
Also joining in was fellow Squad member Rashida Tlaib, who spent Thanksgiving posting about American Indians, saying, “Let’s all remember to honor Indigenous people today by uplifting Indigenous voices and defending Indigenous rights. My son always reminds me to practice gratitude, especially during these challenging times. I am truly thankful for the honor of fighting for my neighbors in #12thDistrictStrong. You all give me hope.”
