In a totally ridiculous video post on X (formerly Twitter) that he made on Thursday, January 2, alongside a similarly facepalm-inducing caption, Pete Buttigieg, known as Mayor Pete thanks to his former position as mayor of a small town that seems to have in no way prepared him for being Transportation Secretary, compared President Joe Biden’s spending efforts with the New Deal.
As could be expected, Mayor Pete’s claim that massive spending that seemingly resulted in little real accomplishments of note was at all similar to the Hoover Dam project, or similar infrastructure efforts of the early and mid-20th century, sparked a great deal of hilarious mockery and criticism online, particularly on X.
In the caption for the video, Mayor Pete claimed that the Biden-Harris Administration had a “Big Deal” for American infrastructure that compares to the Hoover Dam. He wrote, “I’m confident that a century from now, future Americans will look back on the work we’ve done—much as we look at the Hoover Dam—and see how the Biden-Harris Administration’s “Big Deal” for infrastructure made big things possible.”
Then, in the video itself, Mayor Pete claimed that Biden had effectively combated the massive problems he faced in the first years of his disastrous presidency. He said, in that part of the ridiculous video, “President Biden arrived in office with a sober recognition of the scale of the problems our country was facing.”
That wasn’t all. Somewhat later in the video, Mayor Pete pushed a ridiculous claim, alleging that the Biden Administration had managed to create millions of jobs, a claim often pushed by members of the Biden-Harris presidency but disputed by most everyone else, as the jobs “created,” as Mayor Pete put it, were much rather people returning to work after COVID than new jobs created under the Biden presidency.
As could be expected, the commentary on Mayor Pete’s post, both as quote-tweets and comments, were savage. One such commenter on his post, not holding back, both called Mayor Pete an idiot and accused him of lying abou the Biden Administration’s accomplishments. He said, “You’re an idiot. Stop lying and violating the Hatch Act.”
One quote-tweeter of his post, saying much the same thing, snapped, “What moment did you meet? You f*cking FAILED.” Another quote tweeter accused Mayor Pete of trying to start his own presidential campaign four years early with taxpayer dollars, writing, in part, “The guy isn’t even out of office and this clown has launched his POTUS bid on taxpayer dollars.”
Sill another commenter, commenting on the lies of Mayor Pete and what the Biden Admin actually did, wrote, “This is total baloney. Biden-Harris administration failed to help the Western, NC after hurricane Helene. There was no financial aid from Biden-Harris administration for building infrastructure. People had no food, water, and other basic supplies. No internet to communicate, businesses washed off in the flooding, broken bridges.,, I can give n number of examples of Western Carolina miseries. THANKS TO @realDonaldTrump and @elonmusk for providing free Starlink wherever possible to restore Western, NC. FEMA refused to help home owners with TRUMP signs. NEVER FORGET Biden-Harris cruelty toward Western Carolina.”

Still another quote tweeter snapped that things seemed to fall apart as soon as Mayor Pete was in control of it, alleging, “This asshole was given a position and all of the sudden trains and planes weren’t able to function safely anymore. Great job dude.” And, commenting on his failure, still another said, “Four years ago you were handed 42 billon for rural internet and have hooked up zero and 7.5 billion for EV charging station and created 7. You’ve failed your mission !”
