In an unhinged rant posted to social media, Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) yelled at National Guardsmen protecting an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) holding center from violent rioters. During her unhinged remarks, Waters called on other elected officials to protest with her, drawing ire from online conservatives who suggested that the aging Democrat should retire in shame.
For context, since June 6, 2025, violent anti-ICE protests have rocked the city of Los Angeles. While Trump has responded by sending in soldiers from both the National Guard and Marines, Democrats have chosen to use the event as a pawn in their cynical political agenda.
Starting off her June 8, 2025, post, Waters said, “Today, I came to the Metropolitan Detention Center to exercise my constitutional rights as a Member of Congress to check on the safety and conditions of SEIU California President David Huerta, who was arrested by ICE.”
Continuing her bizarre remarks, the aging Democrat explained, “I pleaded with the National Guard, which was heavily armed, not to use their weapons against peaceful demonstrators who were simply exercising their rights to freedom of speech and protest. All people deserve to be treated with dignity and due process under the law. Peaceful, nonviolent demonstrations are critical to protecting our constitutional rights!”
In the comments under her post, conservatives took her to task for her shameful behavior. One such comment read, “You really need to retire. You’re an embarrassment to our country. You are a poster child for term limits. Yelling at law enforcement. Just disgraceful.”
In a video attached to the same post, Maxine Waters added context to her insane post. She raved, “But I had to stop here where the guns are.. I want you all to take pictures of these guns and let people know that they’re in our city with guns. And I’m sure they have orders to shoot and kill. I don’t know, but otherwise they wouldn’t have guns.”
Offering her remarks to the president, she stated, “My message to Donald Trump is you are a cruel human being, and that you are using the poorest people in the land, the most vulnerable people in the land, to promote your politics. You are wrong. We know what this is all about.”

Still not done, she said, “We have people who are immigrants here, who are trying to seek a better living, who have come from places where they have experienced this kind of thing that he’s doing here today, people who work every day, people who are paying taxes, who are raising their families, who supporting education.”
Seemingly caring more about illegal immigrants than US citizens, Waters whined, “They should not be treated this way. They should be given an opportunity to tell their story, who they are and why they’re here, and ask the United States to please do what the Constitution allows us to do, and that is give them consideration for having citizenship.”

Concluding her rant with an ominous call to action, Waters stated, “Yes, all of the elected officials in this city should be on the street. The mayor should be on the street. The city council should be on the street. Everybody should be on the street. All of the state-elected officials, as well as all of us in Congress. We’re supposed to be in Congress tomorrow.”
