Numerous firefighters are ravaging California, particularly in the Los Angeles area, as a lack of stored water and poor forest management practices have created a conflagration that the fire fighters are having a great deal of trouble trying to put out. As that happens, a number of celebrities are decrying what has happened, with some even blaming the Democrat government for its fecklessness.
Leading the charge against the insanity of current policy and decrying the devastation wrought by the fires, actress Sara Foster Skewered both Gavin Newsom and Karen Bass, saying, “We pay the highest taxes in California. Our fire hydrants were empty. Our vegetation was overgrown, brush not cleared. Our reservoirs were emptied by our governor because tribal leaders wanted to save fish.”
Continuing, she said, commenting on what was prioritized instead of firefighting and calling on the two politicians to resign, “Our fire department budget was cut by our mayor. But thank god drug addicts are getting their drug kits. @MayorOfLA @GavinNewsom RESIGN. Your far left policies have ruined our state. And also our party.”
She wasn’t the only one. Actress Candace Cameron Bure, commenting on the destruction and potential for recovery to Fox News Digital, said, “And because the destruction is so massive, I can’t imagine how long a rebuild is going to take. And who knows that small businesses will ever be able to recover or rebuild, depending on what their insurance claims are and all that kind of stuff.
Continuing, Bure commented on the policy issues, saying, “So many fire insurance [companies] completely dropped out of these areas that are in the canyons. I know when we lived there, we couldn’t get fire insurance. And, so, when you think about these things, it’s really overwhelming what people are going to be going through.”
Joining in the commentary on the fires in a joint statement to Fox News Digital, actor and comedian Billy Crystal and his wife Janice Crystal said, “Words cannot describe the enormity of the devastation we are witnessing and experiencing. We ache for our friends and neighbors who have also lost their homes and businesses in this tragedy.”
Continuing, they added, “Janice and I lived in our home since 1979. We raised our children and grandchildren here. Every inch of our house was filled with love. Beautiful memories that can’t be taken away. We are heartbroken of course but with the love of our children and friends we will get through this.”
Further, they noted that the Pacific Palisades neighborhood that was so ravaged by fire is full of “resilient” people who will rebuild, saying, “We pray for the safety of the firefighters and first responders. The Pacific Palisades is a resilient community of amazing people and we know in time it will rise again. It is our home.”
Similarly, Sandra Lee, posting on Instagram, said, “For all your prayers-Thank you. I’m trying to process all this… I am truly grateful we are all safe. My house is gone-I cried all night and thought about every room, nook, and cranny. It was perfection and now it’s just Ash. Please keep our community, the firefighters and the first responders in your prayers. This is not over-not even close.”
Also joining in was Paris Hilton, who wrote, also in a post on Instagram, “Heartbroken beyond words.💔 Sitting with my family, watching the news, and seeing our home in Malibu burn to the ground on live TV is something no one should ever have to experience.😢 This home was where we built so many precious memories. It’s where Phoenix took his first steps and where we dreamed of building a lifetime of memories with London.🥹”
She continued, “While the loss is overwhelming, I’m holding onto gratitude that my family and pets are safe. My heart and prayers are going out to every family affected by these fires. To all the people who have lost their homes, their memories, and their beloved pets. My heartaches for those still in harm’s way or mourning greater losses. The devastation is unimaginable. To know so many are waking up today without the place they called home is truly heartbreaking.💔”
She further added, pledging help and thanking the firefighters, “My 11:11 Media Impact Team is already reaching out to nonprofit organizations today to figure out how we can best support the communities impacted by these fires. We’re committed to offering help as soon as possible and making a meaningful difference for those who need it most. To the brave firefighters and first responders risking their lives to protect us—you are true heroes. I am so grateful for your courage, dedication, and the incredible sacrifices you’re making to save lives and fight this unimaginable battle. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.🙏”
