Trump lawyer and advisor Alina Habba recently sent a warning to former Special Counsel Jack Smith, explaining that he can resign from his position, but it will not prevent him from being held accountable for his actions against President Donald Trump. Over the past couple of years, Smith has become a figurehead for what conservatives describe as lawfare against Trump.

During the Biden-Harris administration, Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed Smith to head the investigations into Trump’s role in the January 6 events and his alleged mishandling of classified documents. Habba explained to conservative commentator Benny Johnson that Smith would be held accountable for his actions.

Johnson broached the topic, “I think that probably the many, many scared, the thousands of scared people at the DOJ. Illustrating the palpable concerns around Trump, he added, “According to many reports, they’re literally shaking in fear, living in a salt mine of tears.” Johnson noted that it must be particularly intense for Smith, adding, “There’s got to be the scariest for Jack Smith.”

Inviting Habba to weigh in on the former special counsel, he continued, “And you’ve been at war with Jack Smith for quite a while. You’ve stared down Jack Smith. Jack Smith is now scurrying like a rat. It’s not going to give Trump an opportunity to fire him, as you’ve predicted on this program, he’s going to resign. Your message to Jack Smith?”

“Bye,” the critically acclaimed Trump lawyer initially said. However, she then indicated that Smith isn’t off the hook yet. “We’re not done with him, because I’ll tell you right now what he did. $50 million of taxpayer dollars. When I say we, I mean the American people. You can’t resign and hide from what you did. You cannot.”

Habba suggested that the fear demonstrated by Trump’s political opponents highlights possible wrongdoing on their behalf. “And you know, for these people that are real tough guys, you’re running real quick, and that tells me that we were right. We were right. Every time someone said I was wrong, she’s so stupid she doesn’t know what she’s talking about. And I’m screaming on the courtroom stairs. I don’t look so wrong right now, because if you have nothing to hide, where are you going.”

One user reacted to Habba’s comments on X, writing, “Investigate his potential misconduct and account for the use of millions of tax dollars, including any instances of waste or possible misuse of funds from the American taxpayer. Prepare a grand jury to review the findings, assess whether sufficient evidence exists for formal charges, including potential felony offenses, please!”

Echoing this sentiment another user added, “50 million taxpayer dollars? Every single American should be incensed beyond belief by this lawfare. This is only one judge: how many more of our hard earned tax dollars have been squandered by these show trials? Add in the J6 hysteria, and Americans didn’t even get kissed!”
