“Sound of Freedom” recently notched another slew of victories on its belt, with the number of theaters in the US screening it exploding as it blew past the $150 million mark at the domestic box office. Now it’s set to win another huge victory, as it’s headed to 20 countries and will be screened in theaters worldwide.
Angel Studios, which is the distributor of “Sound of Freedom,” announced that latest, positive development in a tweet. In the tweet, it said, “You ask, we answer. “Sound of Freedom” is on its way around the world.” According to that tweet, it will be shown, in the coming months, in South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Belize, Panama, Colombia, Venezuela, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Bolivia, Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Costa Rica, the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Spain.

Angel Studios announced the development in a press release as well, saying, “Angel Studios, the platform empowering filmmakers with full creative control to crowdfund and create, is building a global Angel cinema network to extend the power of Pay it Forward to theaters around the world. They will begin with direct to theaters distribution in Latin American countries, the UK, and Ireland, and also partner with distributors around the world to meet the demand for SOUND OF FREEDOM to launch in new markets and additional languages. Today, Angel is honored to share the release dates for the next regions in the global theatrical release.”
Quoted in the press release was Jared Geesey, the Senior Vice President of Global Distribution for Angel Studios. He pointed out that “Sound of Freedom” should be a global movie because the sex trafficking industry is a global issue, saying, “Since SOUND OF FREEDOM launched in the US, demand has been building around the world in dozens of regions and languages. Child trafficking is a global issue, and we hope to build on the incredible momentum here in the states and share the film’s powerful message worldwide.”
The press release also noted that “Sound of Freedom” has seen a massive amount of success at the domestic box office, saying, “SOUND OF FREEDOM is breaking theatrical records as it continues to dominate the US box office. The film is the only film in history to achieve a second-week jump greater than 35% during the summer blockbuster season, and is now the top grossing independent film since the pandemic. Demand has allowed the film’s US screen count to impressively maintain 3,285 theater locations in its 4th week, and now totaling over $127M in domestic box office since its July 4 release.”
Interestingly, the movie is not going to be screened, as of now, in worldwide trafficking hubs such as the Ukraine, Israel, and China. However, it will be screened in Mexico and Columbia, other human trafficking hubs, so that is a victory.
“Sound of Freedom: shows how Tim Ballard, a private individual acting without either the sanction or support of the U.S. government, managed to pose as a “client” of the sex-trafficking industry and use that cover to locate and liberate a young girl and her fellow sex slaves from a horrific “pleasure island” in Colombia.
