Deranged Hollywood Has-Been Tells Joy Reid Claims Republicans Are Willing To “Literally Kill” For Power, Might End Elections Forever If They Win Tonight

Rob Reiner was decent three and four decades ago. He did “All in the Family” and directed “The Princess Bride,” the latter project I can’t go a day without quoting. Unfortunately, Reiner has taken a different approach these days to making us laugh. Whereas before we laughed at his jokes, now we just laugh at him.

Reiner has long been known as “Meathead” on Twitter, a name quite apt to describe his takes on politics. He enjoyed four years of echo-chamber relevance during the Trump administration, where he gave TDS an actual face, and now he’s back sounding the alarm with such inconceivable hyperbole it makes his Trump analyses look tame.

Speaking to MSNBC’s Joy Reid, Reiner claimed that Republicans are willing to “literally kill” anyone who threatens their quest for power and that a Republican victory might ensure this cycle sees the “last election” in our democracy. It gets tiring to point out we live in a constitutional republic and not a democracy, but whatever. His talking points necessitate we talk about his lunacy more than his ignorance on government structure.

Take a look as Reiner’s insane views go unchallenged by Reid, who is with him every step of the way:

[Republicans] are only interested in power,” Reiner said. “They are only interested, and they will do anything to get the power. And they are willing to kill, literally kill, to get the power. You can’t have a conversation with them.”

“If we do not [vote Democrat], this might be the last election we have in a democracy,” he also warned.

As Outkick wrote, Reid’s silence was equally disturbing:

[E]ven any host with a modicum of self-respect would interject and debunk some loony former actor accusing a political party of murder without any evidence. But Joy Reid does not have said dignity. In fact, she’s likely to use Reiner’s conspiracy in the coming days.

Showing how morally corrupt both Reid and MSNBC are, this Reiner conversation isn’t even the worst thing to have been said on the show in the last few days. Just last Wednesday, MSNBC’s “presidential historian” Michael Beschloss asserted Republicans might “conceivably kill” children, destroy the free press, and essentially transform America into Nazi Germany if they won in today’s elections.

“And a historian 50 years from now, if historians are allowed to write in this country and if there are still free publishing houses and a free press, which I’m not certain of,” Beschloss claimed. “But if that is true, a historian will say, what was at stake tonight and this week was the fact whether we will be a democracy in the future, whether our children will be arrested and conceivably killed. We’re on the edge of a brutal authoritarian system, and it could be a week away.”

Of course, we know none of this is true. When Republicans wins and none of this transpires, no one will apologize and no one will be held accountable.
