WWE star Bray Wyatt has “unexpectedly passed” at age 36, according to WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque. The announcement came from social media, with a Tweet being published by Levesque on Elon Musk’s social media platform X.
Levesque shared this message with fans. “Just received a call from WWE Hall of Famer Mike Rotunda who informed us of the tragic news that our WWE family member for life Windham Rotunda – also known as Bray Wyatt – unexpectedly passed earlier today. Our thoughts are with his family and we ask that everyone respect their privacy at this time.”

Fans commented on the post and shared their dismay at the passing of Wyatt, who has become a fan favorite in recent years. One wrote, “Rip Windham. Forever thankful for all you gave to the Pro Wrestling industry and will always cherish the honour of having met you. the time you spent talking to me as a young fan truly meant the world. Sending prayers and condolences to his family. Heartbreaking news. He was the best of us.”
Another fan wrote, “He was only 36 years old bruh.. so much life left to live. He gave us so much and had MORE to give. This is f***ing devastating man. RIP Windham. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson also released a message on Twitter mourning the loss of Wyatt. “Im heartbroken over the news of Bray Wyatt’s passing. Always had tremendous respect and love for him and the Rotunda family. Loved his presence, promos, in ring work and connection with @wwe universe.”
Johnson continued, calling Wyatt a “Very unique, cool and rare character, which is hard to create in our crazy world of pro wrestling. Still processing losing the goat, Terry Funk yesterday and now Bray today. My love, light, strength & mana to the Rotunda family and Funk family during this tough, heartbreaking time. As always, ‘thank you for the house.’”
Wrestling Reporter Sean Ross Sapp reported on Twitter that the cause of Wyatt’s death was a heart attack, which was caused by heart problems that were exacerbated by a recent battle with COVID-19. According to Sapp, Wyatt endured a lengthy battle with the complications, but doctors were unable to stave off the effects of the heart condition.
Wyatt became a fan favorite after he broke character at an event to discuss the ongoing issues he has faced with mental health. Following being fired by WWE in during the pandemic, he said, “I lost a lot of things. I lost my career, I lost two people who were very, very close to me, and I lost my way. I got to a point where I thought that everything that Id’ ever done here otherwise I thought was all meaningless.”
