Remember how we were told, when the FBI raided Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence in an attack on the former president that many on the right said was reminiscent of what happens in a banana republic, that the raid was necessary because Trump had taken some top-secret documents, potentially including nuclear codes, and was suspected of selling them to America’s enemies?
Well, as you probably expected given that those accusations were coming from hysteric Twitter blue-checks, that’s not what Trump was up to and federal investigators finally admitted it. After midterms, of course.
Such is what came out in a recent report by the Washington Post in which that outlet reported that federal investigators “believe former president Donald Trump’s motive for allegedly taking and keeping classified documents was largely his ego and a desire to hold on to the materials as trophies or mementos.”
Yeah, so Trump wanted to keep a few mementos of his presidency, not sell nuclear secrets to Putin. Shocker.
Continuing, the report went on to say that the investigators have so far “not found any apparent business advantage” in the documents Trump brought home with him, and that there’s no indication he took them for a nefarious purpose. In WaPo’s words:
“As part of the investigation, federal authorities reviewed the classified documents that were recovered from Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home and private club, looking to see if the types of information contained in them pointed to any kind of pattern or similarities, according to these people, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss an ongoing investigation.”
“That review has not found any apparent business advantage to the types of classified information in Trump’s possession, these people said. FBI interviews with witnesses so far, they said, also do not point to any nefarious effort by Trump to leverage, sell or use the government secrets.”
“Instead, the former president seemed motivated by a more basic desire not to give up what he believed was his property, these people said.”
Former President Donald Trump blew up on the whole thing on Truth Social, saying that the nuclear weapons lies were a “Hoax” just like the other hoaxes the MSM made up about him before and during his presidency, such as the Russia collusion issue. In Trump’s words:
“Nuclear weapons issue is a Hoax, just like Russia, Russia, Russia was a Hoax, two Impeachments were a Hoax, the Mueller investigation was a Hoax, and much more. Same sleazy people involved. Why wouldn’t the FBI allow the inspection of areas at Mar-a-Lago with our lawyer’s, or others, present. Made them wait outside in the heat, wouldn’t let them get even close – said “ABSOLUTELY NOT.” Planting information anyone? Reminds me of a Christopher Steele Dossier!”
So, yet again, the big “threat”-nuclear secrets being sold by Trump to Putin- was just hand-wringing from the Deep State that made Trump look bad to those not caught up on the Deep State’s anti-Trump antics.
Kyle Becker, commenting on what the issue shows in a Trending Politics article, notes that it can be added to the list of pre-midterm lies, saying:
It can be added to other post-election revelations that misled Democrat voters: A federal court striking down Biden’s now-defunct ‘student loan forgiveness,’ the FBI confirmed to have multiple informants embedded with extremist groups that attacked the capitol on January 6th, and the FTX collapse under Biden’s #2 donor Sam Bankman-Fried.
