U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has arrested over 400 criminal undocumented immigrants in Minnesota during Operation Metro Surge, targeting serious offenders, including convicted sex predators, rapists, and violent criminals protected by local sanctuary policies.
Reacting to this news, DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin criticized Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey for endangering residents. Examples include individuals from Laos, Burma, Somalia, Mexico, and Ecuador with convictions for child sexual conduct, rape, robbery, and assault. As part of the push, DHS launched a “Worst of the Worst” database to publicize such arrests nationwide.
Announcing the new program, McLaughlin declared, “Today, we launched a ‘worst of the worst’ website so every American can see for themselves the criminal illegal aliens that we are arresting, what crimes they committed, and which communities we removed them from.”
Contextualizing the move, DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin excoriated Democrats for letting these migrants into the country. “ICE law enforcement officers have arrested more than 400 illegal aliens, including pedophiles, rapists, and violent thugs, since Operation Metro Surge began,” she said.
Continuing her comments, McLaughlin noted, “Tim Walz and Jacob Frey failed to protect the people of Minnesota. They let these monsters and child predators roam free. Thanks to our brave law enforcement, Minnesota is safer with these thugs off its streets. Instead of thanking our law enforcement… Tim Walz and Jacob Frey continue to demonize our brave law enforcement.”
This is far from the only comment she has made about the issue. Speaking about another operation, she explained, “Sanctuary policies and politicians like Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey allowed these pedophiles, domestic terrorists, and gang members to roam the streets and terrorize Americans.”
Building on this argument, she defended DHS from baseless attacks and slammed woke officials. “ICE law enforcement are risking their lives to protect Minnesotans while their own elected officials sit by and do nothing,” she noted.

Refusing to be cowed, the courageous official added, “Sanctuary policies and politicians like Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey allowed these pedophiles, domestic terrorists, and gang members to roam the streets and terrorize Americans… ICE law enforcement are risking their lives to protect Minnesotans while their own elected officials sit by and do nothing. No matter when and where, ICE will find, arrest, and deport ALL criminal illegal aliens.”

Speaking at the time the operation was announced, McLaughlin described the intended targets. “This week, ICE launched Operation Metro Surge to target the worst of the worst criminal illegal aliens in the Minneapolis area. Just this week, ICE arrested pedophiles, gang members, drug traffickers, and violent thugs,” she added.
Announcing the new program on social media, the DHS posted, “Find the WORST OF THE WORST removed from your community. With this transparent tool, Americans can see for themselves what public safety threats were lurking in their neighborhoods and communities.”
Echoing these comments, the official account for ICE stated, “MURDERS, STRANGLERS, HUMAN TRAFFICKERS, DRUG DEALERS, RAPISTS & CHILD ABUSERS ARE OFF OUR STREETS NOW! Visit our Worst of the Worst web page to learn more about each criminal alien and SHARE their information with others.”
