Recently, NBC’s Chuck Todd announced that his time on “Meet the Press” would end this summer. Todd had hosted the show for nearly a decade.
The announcement came on this Sunday’s installment of “Meet the Press,” where he explained how it was time for him to take a step back and work on different projects. The show’s Twitter account posted, “Today we close our show with an announcement from @chucktodd: ‘While today is not my final show, this will be my final summer here at Meet the Press. … I am really proud of what this team and I have built over the last decade.'”

The host discussed the last 15 years he had worked at NBC, where he explained his role of “helping to explain America to Washington and explain Washington to America.” Todd also discussed expanding the “Meet the Press” Sunday show into a bigger brand. He said it went from a weekly Sunday show to becoming an “important political franchise” with a daily show, newsletter, podcast, and more.
Todd further stated he would still work at NBC on different projects such as docu-series and docu-dramas that are “focused on trying to educate the public better bridge our divides, and pierce our political bubbles.” The host also said he would still be assisting NBC in navigating the 2024 campaign season. Todd also indicated he would pass the show off in September to colleague Kristen Welker, who moderated the final debate of the 2020 presidential campaign between Trump and Biden.
Todd also claimed in his monologue that they employed strict standards for reporting the truth and avoiding “propaganda” at NBC, stating, “We didn’t tolerate propagandists and this network and program never will.” However, some users in the comment section below the tweet voiced their disagreement with that assertion.
One user slammed Todd stating, “It’s not surprising that the show failed since it only covered one side of an issue. Chuck Todd, like other mainstream media figures, follows orders from those in higher positions and shapes the show based on a particular narrative or agenda. NBC News, which is an arm of the Democratic Party (as seen with MSNBC), has ruined the show beyond repair, as evidenced by their terrible ratings. Good riddance Chuck Todd!”
The American Tribune recently covered GOP Rep. Byron Donalds’ appearance on “Meet the Press,” where he slammed Chuck Todd in a tense debate over the debt ceiling and expansion of IRS agents. Donalds discussed how Republicans want to reel in spending to pre-pandemic levels to reduce the level of federal debt. He also addressed the concern many conservatives have over the expanding IRS. Part of Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act was to add an additional 87,000 new IRS agents, which proved to be a heated political topic.
Byrons explained how many are worried these agents could be used to go after middle-class Americans and small business owners. He also claimed that Americans are paying taxes, and no data suggests a need for additional IRS resources. Republican lawmakers have sought to fight the expansion of the IRS for these reasons.
