Disney is faced with its latest challenge in its Disney+ streaming service. The company owns some of the biggest franchise names in entertainment history, and they can’t even break the top 15 most-watched shows of last year. Many are pointing the finger at Disney’s incessant, woke programming that infiltrates much of their content.
Over the past decade, Disney has spent billions acquiring franchises like Star Wars and Marvel to expand revenue in their entertainment division. Notably, the advent of Disney+ seemed like an excellent business opportunity to bring die-hard fans over to their subscription-based streaming service. However, this is not proving to be the case.
The performance was so abysmal last year that Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige announced the company would cut back on Disney+ content as none of the shows could reach the top 15 in streaming. Feige said, “We want Marvel Studios and the MCU projects to really stand out and stand above. So, people will see that as we get further into Phase 5 and 6. The pace at which we’re putting out the Disney+ shows will change so they can each get a chance to shine.”
According to reports from Nielson, only three Disney+ programs made the top 15 streaming list of the last year. Those programs were: Encanto, Bluey, and The Simpsons. No original program released by Disney last year managed to make the list, such as Moon Knight, Ms. Marvel, I Am Groot, and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. Some suggest the average American has no appetite for the woke programming in Disney’s new content. Breitbart reported:
Imagine you are the Disney Grooming Company pouring billions of dollars into Star Wars and Marvel streaming content, and now you are losing to aging shows like Grey’s Anatomy, NCIS, Seinfeld, and The Simpsons. The only Disney+ TV shows that cracked the top 15 were The Simpsons, which is almost old enough to run for president, and Bluey, a cartoon about a dog.
How hard does a studio have to suck to own two of the greatest brands in entertainment history — Marvel and Star Wars — spend billions on content and still lose to NCIS (which reruns on TV constantly) and something called Cocomelon?
If Disney spent less time smearing white people as racists, grooming small children, and standing by affirmative action failures like LucasFilm chief Kathleen Kennedy, and more time focusing on entertainment, maybe Disney+ wouldn’t have lost billions last year… maybe Disney’s stock wouldn’t be in the tank… maybe decent people wouldn’t consider Disney the equivalent of a creep in a van holding candy and a camera. The Woke Nazis at Disney have killed Star Wars entirely as a film franchise, and Marvel is teeming with diversity and gay sex but making worse and worse movies that make less and less money.
Furthermore, Disney has suffered three woke box office failures, losing the company hundreds of millions in 2022. The company’s stock price has sustained significant losses, and Disney must embark on a cost-cutting campaign. The American Tribune reported:
The adage “go woke, go broke” perhaps best applies to Disney and their ideological insistence on churning out stories most Americans have no desire to participate in – and least of all wanting their kids to participate in.
After veering sharply to the left and engaging in some of the most contentious culture wars of the day, Disney has seen their share price plummet and any remaining goodwill for the company evaporate.
The woke company has most famously lost its sovereignty after Florida governor Ron DeSantis revoked their special privileges after taking a very public stance against his education bill that prevented public school teachers from discussing issues of sex and gender with students in grade kindergarten through 3rd grade.
