Country music star Jelly Roll launched a string of vulgar attacks against President Donald Trump while guest-hosting “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on Monday, August 24th. The singer mocked Trump’s handling of a flag, made a racial joke, ridiculed the president’s weight, and ended the political segment with an obscene remark about Trump’s body. The routine marked a sharp departure from Jelly Roll’s previous insistence that people should not care about his political opinions.
Jelly Roll, whose real name is Jason DeFord, was filling in while Jimmy Kimmel continued his annual summer break from the ABC program. The singer began the segment by discussing Trump’s appearance at an IndyCar race held in Washington, D.C., over the weekend. Footage showed the president waving the green flag before the race.
“There’s Donald Trump, who apparently has never held a flag before,” Jelly Roll said as the footage played. “What a s— job. How do you f— up waving a flag?” He then added, “The president seemed to enjoy the IndyCar race, which was a real switch-up for him because normally he only likes his own race,” insinuating that the president holds racist attitudes.
As Yahoo reported, Jelly Roll next turned to Trump’s physical condition and claimed doctors were concerned about the president’s weight. “After his last physical, we found out Trump gained 14 pounds, which means he’s now tipping the scales at almost 240,” he said. He then used that figure to set up a joke about his own 300-pound weight loss.
“It’s crazy,” Jelly Roll said as he began the comparison. “Think about this, y’all. In the last few years, I’ve lost 300 pounds. That means I’ve lost an entire Donald Trump.” He followed the joke with another political jab, saying, “And let’s be honest, based on his approval rating, it seems like most of the country wants to do the same thing.”
Jelly Roll sarcastically told viewers they should avoid mocking the president’s weight because Trump “would never do that to other people.” The show then aired clips of Trump criticizing the appearances of several people, prompting Jelly Roll to say, “Well, if that ain’t the pot calling the kettle fat.” He ended the attack with his crudest remark of the segment: “Well, Mr. President, from one fat pig to another, take it from me that physical fitness is very important. And trust me, you’ll be happy to see your p—s again.”

The political routine came months after Jelly Roll declined to discuss the country’s political climate during the 2026 Grammy Awards. “Not really,” he said when a reporter asked whether he wanted to comment on current events. The singer explained that he had been without a phone for 18 months and was disconnected from the news. “People care to hear my opinion, but so I can tell you that people shouldn’t care to hear my opinion,” he said at the time.
Jelly Roll also previously defended meeting Trump at UFC 309 in New York City shortly after the 2024 presidential election. After facing criticism over the meeting, he said he would have been willing to meet President Joe Biden as well. “Dude, there’s not a chance in hell that I’m not going to meet the president-elect. I don’t care,” Jelly Roll said. “If I got a call to meet Joe Biden, I would have stopped at any point and met him. That’s the active president. I don’t care about what he thinks or I think about policies.”
