Sometimes, the urge to take to social media is too much for some folks. Subsequently, people find themselves in embarrassing situations when they Tweet or post something to Instagram. Instead of crafting a well-thought-out post rife with facts and common sense, too often misinformation, half-truths, and inaccurate assertions lead to social media doing what it does so well: calling out these people.
Recently, famous singer and avowed leftist Barbara Streisand took to X and attempted to make excuses for disgraced Fulton County, Georgia District Attorney Fani Willis. Willis is attempting to prosecute former President Trump in Georgia, and Streisand, who is also a devout Trump-hater, couldn’t help but jump in the fray and run defense for Willis.
Unfortunately for Babs, she wasn’t prepared for social media to do what social media does, which is to call out people like her. Streisand downplayed the scurrilous accusations against Willis and suggested she was guilty of nothing more than wanting to maintain a private life. Streisand even implied that sexism was at play and a man wouldn’t be treated like this.
It should be recalled that the embattled District Attorney is accused of being involved in an undisclosed romantic relationship with the man she hired to investigate President Trump. Clearly a conflict of interest, but that didn’t stop the singer from posting: “How silly that the Republicans want to have Fani Willis fired. For what? Thinking a woman can’t have a private life as well as a professional one? Men do it all the time! How ridiculous is this?”
What Babs failed to grasp was when Willis hired her alleged lover, Georgia taxpayers were on the hook to pay for him. Subsequently, the boyfriend started using the money for lavish vacations that Willis partook in as well. Author Gad Saad said this on X: “Could you genuinely be this clueless? Corruption in the pursuit of your ‘private life’ is called a crime. A bank robber is also pursuing his ‘private life to build liquid equity.’”
The backlash against the “A Star is Born” actress did not stop there. Fox Business host David Asman commented, “I can’t be sure this isn’t actually Babylon Bee…” referring to the conservative satire site that is the bane of many liberals. Another post said: “It’s not private when you sleep with your employees and pay them more than people you aren’t sleeping with…” while a third read, “It’s not private when you sleep with your employees and pay them more than people you aren’t sleeping with…”
Willis has tried to do damage control by asking that any hearing against her be foregone, but Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee said: “Because I think it’s possible that the facts alleged by the defendant could result in disqualification, I think an evidentiary hearing must occur to establish the record on those core allegations.”
Willis could be disbarred or even criminally prosecuted for her tryst on the taxpayer’s dime, and rightfully so. She allowed her hubris and zeal to persecute her political enemy, President Trump, cloud whatever good sense she had, and now it is all falling apart, much to the delight of conservatives everywhere.
Willis, for her part, had a hard time in court during her Thursday hearing. Watch her here:
