Woke Actor’s Bad Year Gets Worse after New Movie Bombs

2022 has been a bad year for many an American. Inflation has ripped through the economy. Gas prices have been painfully and persistently high. Though the job market is strong, economic prospects look dismal, particularly in the medium term.

But for some it’s been worse than for others, with those who were ridiculed in public having a particularly bad time of it. Among those turned into jesters by mass media is Will Smith, who was mercilessly mocked after he, a cuckold, slapped Chris Rock on stage to defend his wife’s “honor”. So that was embarrassing.

Sure, he is not facing painful financial problems like many Americans are. But everyone knows, after the slap and media scrutiny, that his wife was/is cheating on him and he’s still in thrall to her (the slap came after she glared at him), so the ritual public humiliation he suffered was pretty bad.

But Will Smith’s year, already on a bad note, just got worse. Now his slave movie, “Emancipation” is looking like a big-time flop, as Radar Online reported, saying “when Mayan Lopez and Selenis Leyva announced the 2023 Golden Globe nominees on December 12, one name was conspicuously absent. Nearly nine months after he slapped host Chris Rock on the Academy Awards stage, Will Smith and his prestige slave drama, Emancipation, were completely snubbed… ‘Will knows it’s a long road to redemption and a lot of folks won’t forgive him,’ an insider spilled. ‘But this really rams it home.’”

Continuing, Radar Online added “Moviegoers aren’t exactly impressed, either. On its opening weekend, them $120 million flick earned a reported average of just $3k per screen. All of which dismayed the 54-year-old former box office powerhouse, who’d clearly been angling for a post-slap comeback. Despite apologizing for his actions, Chris, Hollywood, and fans haven’t forgiven Will — which is evident with his box office flop.”

It’s no real surprise that woke Will Smith’s movie didn’t do well. For one, the George Floyd moment has mostly passed, at least for normal people, and so yet another anti-white slavery movie isn’t really anyone’s priority right now.

Beyond that, people just don’t like Will Smith that much. For example, a Yahoo/YouGov poll conducted after the slap found “that 47% of those surveyed view Smith unfavorably. That’s up from 37% in a similar poll conducted solely on March 28, the day after the Oscars. A majority of people questioned in the new study (67%) believe Smith’s actions were wrong; 16% said he was right and 17% responded they were not sure.”

Similarly, a recent OnePoll survey finds 66 percent of respondents feel Will Smith should receive jail time for the slap. Assault is assault, after all.

So people aren’t watching Will Smith’s very expensive to produce, woke movie about slavery…and he’s getting snubbed at the Golden Globes…and that’s in the same year as the slap…and his wife cheated on him. Yikes.
