Update 10/23/23: Jim Jordan is out of the race for Speaker after several attempts to gather a vote. A new GOP candidate will step up and be voted on at some point.
Speaking from outside a New York City courthouse on Tuesday, former President Donald Trump again stepped in behind Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio, the stalwart conservative who most in the party are attempting to make Speaker of the House.
With RINOs standing in the way, of Rep. Jordan, the first vote on Tuesday was a failure. Though the GOP has a majority in the House, it is a slim one, meaning that a few holdouts can stop the party from moving forward, something Rep. Gaetz and others used to their advantage when battling the moderates.
Now, however, the moderates are in the position to be holdouts and dictate terms, or simply refuse to negotiate, which is what led to the current issue. Rep. Jordan is almost there, but still missing a few necessary votes.
Trump, however, remains firm behind Rep. Jordan. Speaking about the issue on Tuesday, the former president said that Rep. Jordan is “young” and “strong” and has “very proper opinions” about our country, presumably meaning that he’s a MAGA ally.
Then Trump said that he thinks Rep. Jordan will be confirmed soon, saying, “I think he’s going to be confirmed sometime soon. As you know, many people have now supported him. Twenty-four hours ago, he was supporting somebody else. There seems to be great unification.”
Continuing, Trump added that he thinks Rep. Jordan will do a great job once elected, saying, “I think Jim Jordan will be a great speaker. And I think he will have the votes soon, if not today, in the next day or two. I think he’ll be a great speaker.”

During his remarks outside the New York City courtroom, former President Trump also blasted President Joe Biden’s planned trip to Israel. That came when he was asked, “What about Biden’s trip to Israel? Do you think Biden’s trip to Israel is political, Mr. President?” He replied, “I think everything he does is political and ideologically, everything he does doesn’t work out very well. Thank you very much.”
Posting about the court situation itself on Truth Social, Trump said, “I’m at one of my many Biden Witch Hunt Trials, this one in New York City, where New York State Attorney General Letitia “Peekaboo” James has spent many days, rather than looking for murderers and other violent criminals that are destroying our once Great City. Despite my being here, the talk is all about Biden getting ready to fly to the Middle East to see Abbas, meeting arranged, and Abbas just cancelled. No respect for the United States of America!”
Posting about it earlier in the morning, he said, “I will be attending the trial in Manhattan this morning. I greatly appreciate all of the legal professors and scholars that are saying I DID NOTHING WRONG. I can’t have a JURY and am being viciously tried under a Statute that has never been used before. The Radical Left Democrat Judge, WHO IS HIGHLY POLITICAL, serves as Judge, Jury, and everything else. America cannot let this happen. Our legal system is corrupt and broken! Everything emanates from Washington, “GET TRUMP.‘”
And, in another, similarly timed post, the former president reiterated his support for Rep. Jordan in a pre-vote post, saying, “Jim Jordan will be a GREAT Speaker of the House. As everyone knows, I have long ago given him my Complete and Total Endorsement!“
