Resurfaced footage from a past town hall event from early in Biden’s presidency demonstrates concerning behavior from the president. During the event hosted by CNN’s Anderson Cooper, President Biden showed worrisome signs of cognitive decline in his elderly age, which has progressively worsened throughout his administration.
Despite what critics have labeled as “softball” questions, President Biden struggled through the event, having trouble answering simple questions. Even in 2021, shortly after Biden had stepped into the White House, his administration was riddled with scandals and a low approval rating, where the town hall was an opportunity to reset public opinion.
At one point during his comments, Biden said, “40% of all products coming into the United States of America on the West Coast go through Los Angeles and…” Biden said while struggling to continue his train of thought. “What am I doing here,” he said before Cooper jumped in to help the president, suggesting “Long Beach.” Biden responded, “Long Beach. Thank you.”
Cooper asked Biden about inflation at another point, “About that with just in terms of inflation, because you had told us at a town hall, I think it was in July that the it’s just near term inflation. The Wall Street Journal recently talks it’s like 67 financial experts who said that they they saw high inflation going all the way or deep into 2022.” However, as the CNN host spoke, Biden remained in an odd position with both of his fists clenched.
“A gigantic disadvantage,” Biden proclaimed during another moment. However, Cooper interjected, reminding Biden about the subject they were discussing as the president had veered off-topic. “Mr. President, the question was on the Community College, which was a big campaign promise that that you made. You talked about that a lot,” the host said. Biden responded, “And I’m gonna get it done. And if I don’t, I’ll be sleeping alone for a long time.”
“Do you have plans to visit the southern border?” Cooper asked Biden, addressing the illegal immigration crisis at the southern border. The president replied, “I’ve been there before, and I haven’t I mean, I know it well, I guess I should go down. But the whole point of it is I haven’t had a whole hell lot of time to get down. I’ve been spending time going around, looking at the $900 billion worth of damage done by by hurricanes and floods and and weather and traveling around the world.”
Biden continued, “But I plan on now my wife, Jill has been down. She’s been on both sides of the river. She’s seen the circumstances there. She’s looked into those places. You notice you’re not seeing a lot of pictures of kids lying on top of one another, with, you know, with, with blank with, you know, looks like tarps on top of them.
Furthermore, the president made false claims during his comments, particularly about the economy. “Wages are actually up for those who are working, because for the first time in a long time, employees are able to bargain. You’re the boss. You want me to work for you. What are gonna pay me. How you gonna do it. I’m not being facetious,” he said.
