Social media erupted after fast food giant Wendy’s made a harmless joke at the expense of pop superstar Katy Perry, which enraged the woke mob. The restaurant chain asked if they could “Send her back” to space after her highly publicized Blue Origin spaceflight, which some users interpreted as a hilarious joke and others as problematic.
For context, Blue Origin, a private space company, launched a rocket into space on April 14, 2025, with an all-female crew. The space flight became a massive media sensation and featured celebrities and prominent scientists. When the astronauts returned to Earth after a 10-minute flight, they were greeted by a star-studded welcome party.
The drama started when the official Wendy’s social media account posted a humorous reply to the news that the rocket had safely landed. In a viral response that gathered over 64,000 likes on X, the fast-food restaurant simply asked, “Can we send her back?”
Immediately, woke ideologues called for the restaurant to be canceled and the employee who posted the message to be fired. However, many conservatives objected to the woke mob and defended the joke. When a prominent conservative influencer made a post on the controversy on April 18, 2025, users took to the comments to defend the humorous comment.
Defending the fast food chain, one user said that Katy Perry needs to learn how to take a joke. The comment read, “If there’s one thing I miss most from before the dark times, before the empire, it was the ability to actually make a harmless joke. She could have laughed about this, and gotten some really good press. Instead, she has to look pompous and alienate people.”
Building on that point, another user said this debacle had made them eat at Wendy’s out of spite. The user added, “I just had Wendy’s yesterday for the 1st time in years, and it was definitely because of their smack talking to Perry. That was funny, and they risked alot of leftist hate to be funny, so they deserved my business.”
Providing additional context, the restaurant chain stated to People magazine. Wendy’s said, “We always bring a little spice to our socials, but Wendy’s has a ton of respect for Katy Perry and her out-of-this-world-talent.”

However, a woke ideologue, described as a “source close to the event,” was unsatisfied with the apology. The source said, “Wendy’s didn’t make a joke — they made a choice. Their recent posts on X aimed at Katy Perry were not only disrespectful, but blatantly inappropriate. This wasn’t harmless banter, this was a billion-dollar brand using its platform to publicly demean a woman,” the source adds, arguing that “when billion-dollar brands join in, it’s irresponsible.”
Still not done, the same source continued their complaints. They stated, “[Wendy’s is] not adding to the conversation, they’re dragging it down and this kind of behavior contributes to a culture where women are punished for standing out or a woman daring to do something different is a target. Telling a woman that she should be ‘sent back’ is shameful bullying and reflects a troubling willingness to tear down in today’s society.”
Concluding the woke rant, the source said, “What’s worse is that the face of Wendy’s is a woman, which makes this decision not just hypocritical, but painfully ironic. Everyone expected more from a brand with this kind of platform. Wendy’s should ‘do the right thing’ (the name of one of their core values), apologize, and do better in the future.”
