In yet another magical moment showing his immense charisma, former President Donald Trump appeared at an Atlanta-area Chick-fil-A, and, while there, bought the patrons milkshakes and spoke to them and the staff. One of his adoring fans, whom he hugged, told him, “I don’t care what the media tells you, Mr. Trump. We support you.”
As background, former President Trump was in Atlanta on Wednesday, April 10, for a campaign fundraiser. That fundraiser took the form of a luncheon, during which he met with wealthy Georgia Republicans like former Senators Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue. It was an attempt to build on his huge success in raising $50 million at a Florida event just days prior, coming as he tries to catch up with Biden in fundraising.
During his visit to the Peach State, however, the magical moment came not during the luncheon but rather when he stopped for a bite to eat and to mix with the common people rather than the ultra-wealthy. In the videos of that incident that emerged, he joked it up with his supporters while taking pictures with them, and took the time to chat with the staff and ask how the store was doing.
In one video, Trump can be seen surrounded by men in suits who are presumably his protective detail, but letting people through to give him a hug and take pictures. The woman doing so in the clip that went viral on X, a young, African-American woman, told him, “I don’t care what the media tells you, Mr. Trump. We support you.”
In another video that emerged, Trump can be seen talking to the staff before ordering food for the crowd and his group. He can be heard asking them for 30 milkshakes and “some chicken,” then tells them to “take care of” all the other customers. He also asked, “So, is this good?” and the staff replied with “yes” and nodded heads.
Then, joking with them about the store’s obvious success, he asked them if they were managing to make lots of money at the location and “get rich,” comments that drew smiles from the crowd of polite staff members behind the counter. Trump’s charisma was shining through strongly, with the crowd and staff appearing to have a good time.
Trump then said that he wanted some of the milkshakes kept for his entourage, but was going to hand out the rest to members of the crowd. When one of those crowd members called the chain a “great American franchise,” Trump said, “It is. It’s a great franchise. The owner is a great man who is a member of one of my clubs, and he’s fantastic.”
Continuing, he added, “They do very well, and they’re closed on Sunday.” The person recording joked, in response to the comment about Sundays, “It’s the Lord’s chicken.” Agreeing, Trump fired back, “It’s the Lord’s chicken, you’re right. It’s good chicken, too.”
