Speaking during a real eyebrow raiser of an episode of “The View,” show co-host Joy Behar announced that the show will be temporarily drawing to a close as a “hiatus” is incoming. In fact, she announced that there will be just one more show after the one in which she announced the hiatus, which is typical for the show in mid-summer, with the next season to resume in the early fall.
Adding to the rumors surrounding the situation, which was announced during the show’s Thursday, July 24 broadcast, is that it comes in the context of the show’s co-hosts freaking out over the recent Paramount decision to fire Stephen Colbert, with Behar in particular going berserk over the decision of CBS and Paramount to cancel the woke comedian’s unpopular show.
In fact, “The View” co-host Sunny Hostin declared that the firing of Colbert and cancellation of his show is a direct attack on democracy in America and the Constitution. She began, “My concern is, if it is political, then everyone should be concerned. People on the right should be concerned. People on the left should be concerned.” She continued, “Because it’s very clear that, if it is political, this is the dismantling of our democracy. This is the dismantling of our Constitution. Right?”
Hostin then added, “The First Amendment is the First Amendment for a reason and that is freedom of the press, freedom of speech. Freedom to speak truth to power.” She further claimed, “If that is taken away, if the comedians are being attacked, then that means our Constitution is being dismantled…”
In any case, it was Behar who announced the surprise “hiatus” and screeching halt of the show that has been resolutely anti-Trump as his second administration has gotten going. She said, announcing the hiatus and that just one more show will happen before it, “And before we go on hiatus, we only have one more show after this. I’m allowed to say that, right, too late now, so it doesn’t really matter.”
Continuing, Behar insisted that the “tide is turning” against Trump, in her view, perhaps explaining why the show’s co-hosts are willing to take a temporary halt from berating President Trump, as normally happens this time of year, despite the seeming importance to them of attacking President Trump and his administration. She said, “Before we go, I wanted to tell people that the tide is turning. The tide is turning and things are changing.”
Concluding the point, Behar insisted that Rupert Murdoch, owner of the Wall Street Journal and Fox News, will “take down” President Trump, a seeming reference to its publication of a supposed letter showing alleged close ties between Trump and Epstein. Trump has denied the veracity of the letter. She said, ” I mean, the ultimate irony would be that Rupert Murdoch will take him down Yeah, Fox News, who created the monster, will take him down.”

X’s “Grok” AI noted in the comments that the hiatus is typical for this time of year, saying, “The View has taken similar hiatuses before—it’s a standard annual summer break, often from late July/August to September. In 2025, this follows their pattern, with Season 28 resuming post-Labor Day. Not a cancellation, despite rumors.”
Another commenter noted that, at the very least, the hiatus seems like America is getting a summer break from awful commentary, saying, “Colbert off the air. The View on hiatus. Feels less like summer break, more like someone’s editing the commentary circuit. Media silence is louder when it syncs.”
