One disgruntled TikTok user shared a post expressing frustration with her company that allegedly refused to grant employees Christmas bonuses this year despite supposedly sustaining strong performance amid economic headwinds. Amid the Christmas season, which should be a time of celebration, some have taken to social media to voice their complaints about corporate mistreatment.
The brief clip titled, “That is corporate life for you,” was shared to TikTok in late October last year and has been viewed millions of times, clearly striking a chord with many users based on the hundreds of thousands of likes it has garnered. “When someone tells you to go to hell but you’re currently on a zoom meeting where your company is bragging about how well we did this year despite the terrible economy and in the same breath telling us we don’t get Christmas bonuses,” text across the screen read as the woman covered her mouth in shock.
The comments section was filled with hundreds of users who sympathized with the woman. “Oh it’s corporate EVERYWHERE,” one person wrote. “We had record profits = queue the layoffs,” another said. Sharing their firsthand experience with similar company conduct, another person added, “I did bookkeeping saw the boss booked a 65k safari trip for Christmas. We got $50 Amazon gift cards 🫠”
In another expression of corporate criticism, one user noted, “My company announced they were letting some of us go in such a convoluted way we had to have a second call to explain they were firing us.” Fearing they will have a similar experience, one user wrote, “Our town wide meeting is 12/18. I think you just spoiled the ending for me. 😂”
The American Tribune reported on a joke story created by a social media influencer to illustrate corporate greed in the American workplace. Sharing the pretend story to his followers on TikTok, one man described the made up story, “The New York CEO who had his Lamborghini pooped in by his employees after he canceled their Christmas bonuses, has just learned that they have all resigned. Literally every employee, from the sales staff to the shipping department, emailed in their resignation to the CEO.”
Sharing more details about the pretend scenario, the man said, “At the same time, the former employees are saying that the business will now grind to a halt, as no customer will be receiving their orders in time for Christmas or their orders at all, while a few of the employees did take other jobs, the rest of the crew is sticking around, pooling their savings, and they’re going to start the exact same company without a D bag at the top.”
Adding more made-up details about how the employees fought back, the influencer said, “The CEO is in panic mode, and he’s putting up these job postings, trying to fill these vacant positions, but all he’s getting back are these AI generated resumes that these old employees are pushing towards him to waste his time so that he can actually fill the positions.”

The individual concluded the pretend story, “The sales staff is confident that they’ll be able to bring all the clients from the old company to the new company and leave the CEO with zero revenue, which will effectively make him unemployed, and then he’ll have to sell his Lamborghini. But nobody really knows what the resale market is. On a poop in Lamborghini.”
