In an absolutely bizarre, and indeed quite absurd, video posted to Instagram, the video and photo sharing social media site owned by Mark Zuckerberg’s META, woke country singer Sheryl Crow posted a video of herself selling her Tesla so that the proceeds of it could be donated to National Public Radio (NPR) in protest of Elon Musk.
Elon, for reference, heads the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which has been waging a war on the federal budget and spending deemed wasteful or hostile to MAGA interests. That would include the notoriously tiresome and leftist-leaning NPR, about which he posted on X (formerly Twitter), saying, “Defund NPR. It should survive on its own.”
Included in that video was a post in which known leftist NPR CEO Katherine Maher seemed to deride the notion of truth as an immutable and important concept, saying, “I think our reverence for the truth might have become a bit of a distraction that is preventing us from finding consensus and getting important things done.”
In any case, Crow posted about the matter on Instagram. Beginning the caption of her video post in which her Tesla car was seemingly sold, being driven away on the back of a flatbed tow truck, as she waved and smiled at the camera, she said, “My parents always said… you are who you hang out with.”
Continuing, she indicated that she saw being anti-Tesla as being equivalent to having good morals, though she failed to explain how selling a car she already bought from the company harms it, given that it already got its money out of her. She said, “There comes a time when you have to decide who you are willing to align with. So long Tesla.”
Concluding, she sneered that Musk was the president, claimed to have donated the proceeds of the sale to NPR, and claimed that he stands against the truth, though she didn’t address the anti-truth video of the NPR CEO. She said, “Money donated to @npr, which is under threat by President Musk, in hopes that the truth will continue to find its way to those willing to know the truth.” Watch her here:

Commenters on Crow’s post raked her over the coals for her ridiculous post and her insistence that being anti-Elon with vague symbolism is somehow equivalent to moral character. One, for example, said, “The majority of America spoke!! And we knew full well what Trump wanted Elon to do ! So stop this “we didn’t vote for Musk” Shit”
Others accused her of having various flavors of Trump Derangement Syndrome, or TDS, saying things like “So you were OK with Elon Musk until he started working with Trump? Your TDS is showing” and “Another liberal who us Trump and Elon deranged 😂😂😂.” Another said, “I so love it when wealthy liberals that tell the struggling rest of us how morally justified it is that the government must continue to waste our tax money.”
