In a bizarre theatrical moment from the Texas state house, Rep Gina Hinojosa, a Democrat, asked if she would face arrest if she decided to leave the chamber while about to break down in tears. This comes after Democratic lawmakers ended a two-week walkout to delay a plan to redraw voting districts ahead of the upcoming election.
For context, Democrats across the nation collaborated with the missing Democrats, and deep-blue states such as Illinois and New York offered succor to the missing Dems. However, local officials, such as AG Ken Paxton, promised there would be harsh punishments for the entitled left-wing activists.
In any case, the incident began with Hinojosa asking, “If I leave, if I attempt to leave this chamber today without signing a permission slip, am I subject to arrest by the government?” When the speaker of the house answered, “As I stated today, no one will be able to leave the chamber without a permission slip.”
Trying to entrap the Republican speaker, and almost breaking down, she asked, “Is an arrest under the call of the house not prohibited by Article Three, section 14 of the Texas Constitution that prohibits members from being arrested during the legislative session?” Refusing to be sidelined, he answered, “That is a general question. The chair declines to answer.”
Still not done trying to make a scene, she whined about the Texas constitution. “If I attempt to leave this floor today with this call of the house on me, why am I not protected from arrest by Article Three, section 14 of the Texas Constitution that prohibits the arrest of members during the legislative session?” she melted down.
After another clear answer, which apparently was not to the Democrats’ liking, she continued, barely holding back tears, “What purpose can I walk out of this house right now without being arrested? Or am I protected by Article Three of section 14 of the Texas Constitution?”
Clearly exasperated, rep Dustuin Burrows (R) answered, “There are separate provisions under the Constitution that provide for maintaining and compelling a quorum. They are separate, as Ms Hinojosa has previously stated. Under the call of the house, there are permission slips that you are welcome to take.”

However, this is far from the only Democrat who melted down over these much-needed electoral changes. As we reported, Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) lost her mind over the new map, which would favor Republicans by flipping five Democratic-leaning House seats
Already losing her cool, she complained, “The Republicans, they are cheaters all day, every day. But we have never tried to match their energy until now. And I applaud it. This is a dangerous road to travel down, and I do applaud those in California that say, if you want to play with us, we will play back.”

Still not done, she slapped together irrelevant examples. “You can stop this right now if you just say, ‘Hey, we will stop in Texas,’ because California doesn’t go into play unless Texas does. If you will recall, when we look at North Carolina, as soon as they ended up with a Republican majority in that Supreme Court, what did they do? They decided to take their map from seven, which is pretty much what the state of North Carolina looks like, and instead they added an additional three seats for the Republicans,” Crocket alleged.
