Things got crazy near Chicago when CBS News reporter Lauren Victory attempted to describe what was going on at a high-octane, anti-ICE protest outside the ICE facility in Broadview, Illinois, which is about 12 miles to the west of Chicago. As Victory attempted to describe what she saw at the fury-filled protest, she ended up mobbed by angry leftists who accused her of secretly working for Fox News Channel.
As background, ICE has been cracking down particularly harshly on sanctuary cities like Los Angeles, Portland, and Chicago, seeing them as particularly target-rich environments in which illegal aliens can be detained and deported in vast numbers, while also reasserting the federal government’s authority by cracking down on illegal immigration allowed by the jurisdictions.
One of its largest such operations has targeted Chicago, much to the outrage of leftist residents who allege that ICE is violating the human rights of criminal illegal aliens by detaining and deporting them for being here illegally, and has led to huge protests, threats against ICE and other federal agents, and like chaos.
Such is what was going on as a protest targeted the ICE Broadview facility, and Victory was there to cover the protest. Trying to describe what she saw at the protest, Victory noted that the protesters were a mix, with some being relatively well-behaved while others were marching about with vulgar signs that couldn’t be displayed on air.
She said, on that point, “Uh, you know, a group out here, um, just trying to, to show some love. I can read a sign from here that says ‘God demands freedom.’ A lot of people around here have signs that have biblical verses on them, but there are also some signs here that, you know, we cannot show on TV because they have curse words that are, that are, you know, pointed.”
That’s when the leftist mob approached, with one protester, who was off-camera as Victory spoke, approaching and trying to intimidate her into silence regarding the vulgar signs. He snapped, “I didn’t see any like that.” Victory, standing up to his threatening comments and demeanor, said, “I saw a few.”
Getting angrier and angrier, the protester then snapped at her, “Who are you working for, Fox?” Getting scared as he kept the threatening demeanor up, Victory said, in a somewhat muffled voice as the already high tensions shot up yet further, “I’m, I’m actually live on the air right now — no, I’m not [from Fox].” The angry protester shot back, “Why are you lying to them?”

Victory, continuing to stand up for herself against the angry protester, said, “I’m not lying. I saw some signs.” That’s when CBS cut the feed and stopped showing Victory in her interaction with the angry protester at the volatile event, seemingly protecting the left from further expositions of its bad behavior.
Cutting back to the studio after cutting off Victory, the anchor wrapped up the segment by saying, “We’re going to make sure that Lauren is okay. Our thanks to Lauren. We’re going to make sure she’s okay as she’s interacting with some people who have gathered out at this demonstration.”
