Recently, liberal comedian Kathy Griffin’s comedy show was protested by a caravan of Trump supporters in Huntington, Long Island. Footage of the incident shows dozens of protestors descending on the venue where the show was hosted, voicing their opinions of Griffin.
A long line of cars can be seen driving up and down the strip in front of the theater where Griffin was set to perform, displaying various patriotic and pro-Trump flags. Many of the cars were also blaring sirens or loud pro-Trump music, clearly irritating those on the sidewalk who didn’t share the same affinity for former President Trump.
One protestor could be seen standing through the sunroof of a truck, holding a flag that stated, “HANG ALL TRAITORS.” The individual was also displaying a disembodied mannequin head, likely poking fun at the controversial 2017 incident where Kathy Griffin was photographed holding a fake severed head depicted as Donald Trump.
One presumably liberal onlooker on the street voiced her disdain for the protestors, stating, “I think it just shows us how sh*tty Long Island has become.” She was also seen running in the street, grabbing a flag on the back of a truck.
“We’re protesting Kathy Griffin at the Paramount Theater tonight over here in Huntington, Long Island. As far as I know it wasn’t sold out. There was plenty of tickets still available. And we’re showing our support for President Trump,” one protestor said.
When asked why the protestors showed up to the event, one individual said, “Why are we here? If you’re asking that question, you’re very confused. You tell me why we’re here. Because we’re Americans.” Several other protestors criticized Griffin, emphasizing their support for former President Trump.
Griffin made global headlines in 2017 when she was controversially photographed holding a grotesque severed head covered in blood belonging to then-President Donald Trump. Aside from drawing anger from Trump supporters for her questionable conduct in the photo shoot, reports indicate that the Department of Justice even considered charging Griffin over the stunt. Watch the footage of the protestors below:
“I actually just got a FOIA back, Freedom of Information Act, recently, expressing how serious they were about trying to charge me with the crime of conspiracy to assassinate the president of the United States,” Griffin stated during a podcast appearance.
“Kathy Griffin should be ashamed of herself. My children, especially my 11 year old son, Barron, are having a hard time with this. Sick!” Trump posted on then-Twitter. Similarly, former First Lady Melania Trump weighed in on the controversial photo as well. “As a mother, a wife, and a human being, that photo is very disturbing,” she said. “When you consider some of the atrocities happening in the world today, a photo opportunity like this is simply wrong and makes you wonder about the mental health of the person who did it.”
Following the infamous beheading photo, CNN cancelled its deal with Kathy Griffin amid the intense backlash. “CNN has terminated our agreement with Kathy Griffin to appear on our New Year’s Eve program,” a tweet from the network read.
