In an absolutely bizarre and headache-inducing incident out of Minnesota in mid-December, a Democratic state senator tearfully apologized to Somali migrants in the state after they had been accused of committing billions upon billions of dollars of fraud, stealing taxpayer funds at a massive scale.
As background, the Somali community in the state is accused of having pilfered welfare programs funded by state and local taxpayers, such as the Feeding Our Future program, which provided meals to needy kids, and a program meant to help parents of autistic teenagers. The fraud appears to have been mainly committed by the Somali migrants.
So, at an event put together by a migrant in the state, Asad Aliwed, Democratic state Sens. Ann Johnson Stewart and Steve Cwodzinski tearfully apologized to Somali migrants at the Ishad Islamic Center in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. Joining them was Eden Prairie Mayor Ron Case, who was technically elected in a non-partisan election but is a leftist.
Stewart started crying as she apologized to the Somalis that they had faced clearly true accusations of fraudulent activity, saying, “We are heartbroken by the horrible actions of our government, and we want you to know that at the state level, we will do all that we can to support you.”
Continuing to mutter a ridiculous apology through her tears, the state senator insisted that Democrats in the state remain firmly committed to helping the Somali migrants, saying, “Whether you live in our district or not, we are here. We are 100% committed to helping you. You are welcome here, you belong here and we are here for you. I apologize, I have to leave for another commitment.”
She wasn’t the only one. Also jumping in to grovel and apologize to the invaders was State Sen. Cwodzinski, who gave a bizarre, nearly nonsensical speech. Cwodzinski said, “We’re all being tested. And what will we rise to the top, and how will we enrich America and how will we enter the portal after this and bring all the good and joy and rapture that I know we’re capable of as people on the planet Earth.” He also said, without any context or any real meaning, “And the Statue of Liberty, my God, the Statue of Liberty!”
Adding to that, the state senator referenced the ridiculous “nation of immigrants” slogan, insisting, “That’s what America is all about. We’re not a nation of ‘we’re all the same.’ We’re a nation of immigrants. We’re a nation of diversity. That’s our strength, not our weakness. I really don’t know what to say.”

Also joining in was event organizer Aliweyd, who insisted that Somalis are valuable contributors rather than what President Trump labelled them as, which is “garbage”. He said, “As you see, we are part of the fabric of Eden Praire. We are part of Minnesota. We are not garbage, we are human beings.”
Aman Ali, a local resident, also attacked President Trump over the garbage comment, saying, “Hearing the president of the United States directly say those things day in and day out, it’s racism. It’s absolutely harmful, and it’s deeply dehumanizing the whole community of people, you know, it hurts. It really does hurt to the core.”
