In a move that earned him widespread support from conservatives, President Trump declared a “crime emergency” in Washington, DC, and assumed control of local police. Additionally, on August 11, 2025, the president sent in 800 National Guard troops to secure the capital.
For context, in response to the sensible move, leftists have melted down in a series of theatrical protests. Additionally, Mayor Muriel Bowser and other woke Democrats have issued melodramatic statements criticizing the move as ‘authoritarian,’ while painting Trump as a racist.
In any case, a viral video of progressive protesters opposed to Trump’s decision captured the embarrassing protests. A left-wing agitator, with stereotypical dyed hair, screamed her opinions at the camera, saying, “Free DC. This is about what Trump is trying to do to DC in order to take over DC and silence us, trying to oppress a people, and he’s causing real harm to real communities in the process.”
One of the protest organizers, Keya Chatterjee, the executive director of Free DC, went on an insane TDS rant where she lobbed baseless allegations against Trump. She claimed, “This goes beyond the sort of words people have been using, like ‘unprecedented and ‘unusual.’ This is just authoritarianism.”
In a typically disengenuous and race-baiting response, infamous woke activist Reverend Al Sharpton slammed the decision to send in the National Guard. He declared, “Donald Trump was inspired to take this disgusting, dangerous, and derogatory action solely out of self-interest. Let’s call the inspiration for this assault on a majority Black city for what it is: another bid to distract his angry, frustrated base over his administration’s handling of the Epstein files.”
However, despite the shrill opposition, Trump gave a cogent justification for his decisive decision. He explained, “City government’s failure to maintain public order and safety” and crime rates posed “intolerable risks to the vital Federal functions that take place in the District of Columbia.”
However, Mayor Muriel Bowser took a different line on the National Guard deployment. She whined, “My message to residents is this. We know that access to our democracy is tenuous. That is why you have heard me and many Washingtonians before me advocate for full statehood.”

One of the woke protestors, Amari Jack, a 20-year-old college student, explained his motives for participating in the demonstration. He announced, “I came out today because I was really scared about the potential that DC could lose any autonomy it has. I feel like, as DC natives, born and raised, we need to be able to represent ourselves and enrich our communities. We can’t just have a president come in and rule over our home.”
Continuing the baseless claims, Maurice Carney, 60, claimed that this move was part of a wider plot. He alleged, “When you see this increase in militarisation, whether it’s in DC or on the African continent or anywhere else in the world, you always see an increase in violence, either from resistance or from creating an environment that’s unstable.”

Concluding his remarks, the conspiratorial Democrat said, “Like it or not, DC is seen as the capital of the empire, the capital of the world. So if Trump wants to show he’s this ‘law and order’ guy, DC is the best place for him to do that. It’s also the best place for us to resist, for us to stand up and let the rest of the world know that even right in the heart of the empire, the people – local residents of DC – resisted.”
