Back in September 2024, CNN host Kaitlan Collins attempted to pull up a clip of President Donald Trump from 2016, during his first bid for the presidency, where he discussed Somali immigrants in the state of Minnesota. The game plan was to use the clip to bash Trump, who at the time was running for a second term in the White House, along with Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN).
However, time has proved that President Trump was correct in his assessment of the dangers and risks posed by the massive swell of Somali immigrants who illegally entered the country and settled in the state. Investigations in Minnesota have revealed that many illegal aliens from Somalia have siphoned billions of dollars through daycare and various health care schemes.
“This moment in a bigger picture does harken back to one that we’ve seen before on the campaign trail, like when Donald Trump said this when he was in Minnesota in 2016 about Somali refugees,” Collins said in the now-resurfaced viral clip. The video then cuts to President Trump saying, “Here in Minnesota, you’ve seen firsthand the problems caused with faulty refugee vetting.”
He then goes on to add, “With large numbers of Somali refugees coming into your state without your knowledge, without your support or approval.” The clip then cuts back to Collins, who is then joined by Omar. “My next source knows firsthand what follows political rhetoric like that, the Democrat fromĀ Minnesota, Rep. Ilhan Omar.”
According to Fox News, an executive order signed by President Trump makes the case that certain states have embraced loopholes that allow folks to self-certify in order to receive benefits, including housing, food and medical care, while also refusing to implement basic controls to prevent fraud. The order shines a spotlight on Minnesota as a specific example of “staggering fraud and waste.”
One example the order provides is the alleged $250 million scam by a nonprofit organization called Feeding Our Future, along with Medicaid fraud, and a major childcare fraud ring involving a number of Somali illegal aliens who have been accused of siphoning taxpayer dollars and sending them to a known African terrorist group.
A video by conservative YouTuber Nick Shirley, posted in December 2025, revealed that so-called daycare centers run by Somali immigrants were not actually providing services to anyone in the community, despite receiving public funds to do just that. Investigators took the video seriously and found mountains of evidence suggesting many of these centers existed in the state of Minnesota.

And lies to us every day.” Another commented on the post, writing, “THANK YOU for again proving Trump was right!!!” A third user said, “TRUMP HAS BEEN RIGHT FOR DECADES.”
