Several weeks after news broke that actress and co-host of The View, Whoopi Goldberg, was not only mentioned in the notorious Epstein files, but asked to borrow the deceased pedophile’s private jet for transportation to a charity event for The White Feather Foundation, she finally addressed the matter on the program.
During a recent episode of The View, Goldberg discussed the situation, however, she failed to reveal why she requested Epstein’s jet specifically, claiming she didn’t fly anywhere, and then trying to flip the focus onto President Donald Trump, essentially dipping and dodging the many questions folks have been asking about the nature of her relationship with the convicted sex trafficker.
The staff at NewsBusters brought up a number of concerning points that went unaddressed by the show’s co-host, particularly the fact this request was made five years after Epstein was convicted of sex crimes. On top of that, the charity’s website states clearly that Goldberg flew out to the event and served as the master of ceremonies.
According to a report from NewsBusters, the show was once again doing a segment to attempt to link President Trump to the crimes committed by Epstein, which is when Goldberg decided to admit being in the files, claiming she was confirming the revelation “in the name of transparency.” The report notes, however, that if transparency were the true motive for the admission, she would have done so after the outlet brought the situation to their attention.
Goldberg read the contents of the request during the segment. Fellow co-host Sunny Hostin immediately attempted to downplay the request by pointing out that it was rejected. “My name is in the files. Yes. And what does it say? It says, ‘Whoopi needs a plane to get to Monaco. John Lennon’s charity’ — it should say ‘Julian Lennon’s charity is paying for it. They don’t want to charter so they are looking for private owners. Here’s the info.’ And they give all the information, and they’re saying, ‘do you want to offer your GII?’ Okay.”
“It looks like they said ‘no thanks,'” Hostin replied. They failed to discuss the fact the request was made on May 8, 2013, five years after Epstein was convicted for sex crimes against a minor. Co-host Joy Behar then chimed in, saying, “In other words, anybody can be on this list,” essentially going on to hand-wave the matter away by adding, “But Trump is on the list 38,000 times. Come on!”
“Well, this is my point. Because, I’m telling you when I tell you people are trying to turn me into — I wasn’t his girlfriend. I wasn’t his friend,” Goldberg explained to the panel. Co-host Sara Haines responded, “You were too old for him.” Goldberg played off the comment by saying, “I was not only too old but it was at a time, you know, where this is just not – you used to have to have facts before you said stuff.”

Goldberg then responded to Behar’s attempt to pivot to Trump, saying, “Well, I can’t speak to him but I’m speaking about me because I’m getting dragged. People actually believe that I was with him. It’s like, honey, come on.” NewsBusters then noted that the actress avoided commenting on why Epstein was the one the request was made to, pointing out that the show’s panel tried to make the case that Goldberg taking a plane anywhere was absurd from the get-go.
“No, I didn’t get on the plane because, you know what I would have to do to get on the plane,” Goldberg said. Haines popped in again, replying, “Fly” before adding, “And she doesn’t fly. She’s a bus babe.” However, on the charity’s website it says, “Whoopi Goldberg kindly flew in from the United States to host the event and performed her role as master of ceremonies to perfection.” The outlet once again made a request for comment, but The View did not respond.
