During a past episode of “The View” with Fox News host Judge Jeanine Pirro dating back to President-elect Donald Trump’s first presidency, co-host Whoopi Goldberg ended the segment after an intense exchange with the conservative guest. After Goldberg and Pirro devolved into a shouting match over the semantics of the former president’s rhetoric toward illegal immigration, Whoopi appeared to signal that the show was over.
A clip of the segment from 2018, showed Pirro defending the Trump administration, citing economic data indicating all Americas were better off. “You want to talk about Donald Trump. You tell me what metric in this country is worse off? Unemployment is lower than it’s been in 50 years. Minorities, Hispanics, African Americans, hate…Wait a minute, the GDP under Obama was barely one. We’re going up to four,” she told the predominantly liberal panel.
Co-host Meghan McCain also weighed in on Trump’s popularity, “I also think it’s important. As we said, 89% the republican party still supports him. He still has huge popularity in the country.” Urging the Democratic Party to gather itself in the face of Trump’s support, she said, “And if Democrats don’t get there, you know what together, he’s certainly going…” before Goldberg interjected and began arguing with Pirro.
As the two spoke over each other, Judge Jeanine suggested that Whoopi Goldberg suffered from Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS). Whoopi responded, “Listen, I don’t have Trump derangement. Let me tell you what I have. I have a lot of I’m tired of people starting a conversation with Mexicans or liars and rapists. I’m tired of people of people starting a conversation with Mexicans are liars and rapists.”
Continuing her monologue, Goldberg said, “I’m 62 years old. There have been a lot of people in office that I didn’t agree with, but I have never, ever seen anything like this. I’ve never seen anybody whip up such hate. I’ve never seen anybody be so dismissive and I and clearly you don’t watch the show, so you don’t know that. I don’t suffer from that. What I suffer from is the inability to figure out how to fix this. That’s my issue.”
Pirro and Goldberg continued arguing, where Judge Jeanine blasted sanctuary cities and maintained that Trump was in the right to call out violent criminals who have illegally entered the country and murdered Americans. Goldberg continued talking past this point, claiming Trump was inciting hatred and urging people to commit violent acts. Whoopi then exclaimed, “Say goodbye,” signaling that the segment was over before ripping up a piece of paper in front on her.
“Think the left is tolerant? Think again. Watch this dispute between @JudgeJeanine and Whoopi Goldberg. As soon as Goldberg feels threatened, she ends the segment,” conservative commentator Kyle Morris wrote, sharing the clip on social media. Another user weighed in, “Only the left think they’re tolerant, the rest of us know better. Whoopi wouldn’t listen and @JudgeJeanine wouldn’t back off addressing the misinformation Whoopi stated as fact, so…she shut it down. Guarantee Whoopi thinks she was shutting down racist remarks.”
