Things are continuing to spiral in Minnesota, where Gov. Tim Walz has continued alternating between going ballistic over the ongoing ICE and DHS crackdown on illegal immigration and fraud in his state, and seemingly bending the knee and agreeing to work with the federal government. Meanwhile, Minnesota National Guard troopers were caught on tape handing out hot coffee, hot chocolate, and donuts to anti-ICE agitators.
For reference, President Trump has kept up the heat on Gov. Walz and his allies, announcing on the evening of Sunday, January 25, that Walz and others were going to be required to comply with federal requests regarding the crackdown on illegal immigration, and that he was calling on Congress to totally outlaw sanctuary cities.
Adding further fuel to the fire is the fact that the ongoing ICE and DHS crackdown has been met with increasingly out-of-control riots and protests, with some of the leftist agitators involved even trying to attack the agents, and sometimes being shot and wounded or even killed when they allegedly put agent lives at risk. Such happened again when Alex Pretti was shot after getting in a scuffle with ICE agents in which the pistol he was carrying went off, though it was unclear whether he fired it or it discharged when hitting the ground.
Trump’s administration quickly responded to that shooting by insisting that Pretti was up to no good/ DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, for example, claimed, “This individual showed up to a law enforcement operation with a weapon and dozens of rounds of ammunition.” She added, “He wasn’t there to peacefully protest. He was there to perpetuate violence.”
The whole situation, from Trump’s previously made threats and warnings of more to the shooting, appears to have set off Tim Walz, who responded with a berserk and rambling press conference in which he insisted that it is tyrannical for ICE agents to defend themselves from protesters who they fear are attacking them.
He said, in his ridiculous meltdown, looking teary-eyed as he did it, “To Americans who are watching this, I’ve got a question for you: What side do you want to be on? The side of an all powerful federal govt that can kill, injury, menace, and kidnap its citizens off the streets? Or on the side of a nurse at the VA hospital who died bearing witness to such government? Or the side of a mother whose last words were, ‘I’m not mad at you.'”

Adding to the infuriating nature of the whole situation is that the Minnesota National Guard units that have been called up were caught on tape not taking action to help ICE agents and other DHS personnel keep the situation under control, but rather helping out the anti-ICE agitators as they tried to stay warm in freezing Minnesota temperatures.
Such is what Fox News noted in a post that went viral on Facebook, saying, “Minnesota National Guard troops were seen handing out coffee, donuts and hot chocolate to anti-ICE protesters in St. Paul. One troop called it a ‘demonstration of safety and security’ as the state faces weeks of unrest following two fatal shootings. The troops were reportedly given reflective vests so agitators wouldn’t ‘confuse them with federal agents.'”
