WATCH: Vance Shuts Down NYT Reporter with Brilliant Response

During a recent interview with New York Times reporter Lulu Garcia-Navarro, Senator and 2024 Trump running mate JD Vance shut down Navarro with the facts in a brilliant response to her continued pressing regarding what happened during the highly controversial and contentious 2020 election.

The spat began with Navarro asking Sen. Vance about what happened in 2020, namely whether he thinks that former President Trump won or lost that election. She framed the question in a way that tried to get him to give a simple “yes or no” answer. She asked, “Senator, yes or no. Did Donald Trump lose the 2020 election?”

Vance, instead of falling into her trap and playing her game, fired back by asking about one of the incidents of censorship that impacted the race. He said, “Let me ask you a question: Is it okay that big technology companies censored the Hunter Biden laptop story, which independent analysis of said it cost Donald Trump millions of votes?”

Navarro tried again. Pressing on the same issue without responding to his question about the Big Tech censorship of the Hunter Biden laptop story, a story that many on the right contend could have swung the election in former President Trump’s favor, she asked, “Did Donald Trump lose the 2020 election?”

Sen. Vance once again fired back using the Hunter Biden story as his avenue of attacking Navarro for being biased in her view of the election. He said, “Did big technology companies censor a story that independent studies have suggested, would’ve cost Trump millions of votes?” Navarro then again asked, “Did Donald Trump lose the 2020 election?”

Sen. Vance, obviously tiring of her tedious unwillingness to consider the other view of what happened, said, “You’re repeating a slogan rather than engaging with what I’m saying, which is that when our own technology firms engage in industrial scale censorship, backed up by the federal government in a way that independent studies suggest affects the votes.”

He then said, “I’m worried about Americans who feel like there were problems in 2020. I’m not worried about this slogan that people throw.” He continued, “‘Well, every court case went this way.’ I’m talking about something very discreet, a problem of censorship in this country that I do think affected things in 2020, and more importantly, that led to Kamala Harris’ governance, which has screwed this country up in a big way.” Watch him here:

Posters on X (formerly Twitter) loved it. Conservative X personality Collin Rugg, for example, wrote that Sen. Vance’s takedown of the woke reporter was “brilliant.” Rugg said, “JD Vance shuts up New York Times reporter Lulu Garcia-Navarro after she asked him if Donald Trump lost the 2020 election. Brilliant.”

Similarly, another commenter wrote that JD had been unwilling to back down and be backed into a corner on the issue of the election, saying, “JD Vance refused to back down during a NYT podcast interview when host Lulu Garcia-Navarro attempted to back him into a corner regarding the 2020 election results.”
