Earlier this month, footage circulated across social media, showing JD Vance offering a brilliant rebuttal to a CNN reporter who asked him to comment on comments from Former President Donald Trump regarding Democratic Presidential Nominee Kamala Harris. The remarks Vance was asked about pertain to Trump’s appearance at the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) conference, where the former president speculated on Harris’ true racial identity.
“The former President’s comments yesterday to the National Association of Black Journalists, where he said that Vice President Harris is, quote, all of a sudden black as a father of three biracial children. Did those comments give you pause at all?” asked CNN correspondent Steve Contorno, who interviewed Vance in front of the southern border.
Vance responded, “They don’t give me pause at all. Look all. He said that is that Kamala Harris is a chameleon. She goes to Georgia two days ago. She was raised in Canada. She puts on a fake southern accent. She is everything to everybody, and she pretends to be somebody different, depending on which audience she’s in front of.” The Ohio senator was referring to several instances in which Harris has employed a notably different accent depending on which audience she is speaking to.
Trump’s running mate continued, “I think it’s totally reasonable for the President to call that out, and that’s all he did. I mean, look, she’s running as a tough on crime prosecutor, even though she implemented open border policy, she’s saying that she wants to support the police, yet she wanted to defund the police just three years ago. It’s totally reasonable to call out the fact that she pretends to be somebody different depending on the audience she’s talking to.”
The American Tribune reported on other recent statements from Sen. Vance, such as when he discussed the allegations about Haitian migrants eating pets with CNN’s Kaitlan Collins. Defending the claims from his constituents, which have faced scrutiny from the left, he told Collins, “In the last several weeks, my office has received many inquiries from actual residents of Springfield who’ve said their neighbors’ pets or local wildlife were abducted by Haitian migrants. It’s possible, of course, that all of these rumors will turn out to be false.”
Vance continued, “Do you know what’s confirmed? That a child was murdered by a Haitian migrant who had no right to be here. That local health services have been overwhelmed. That communicable diseases–like TB and HIV–have been on the rise. That local schools have struggled to keep up with newcomers who don’t know English. That rents have risen so fast that many Springfield families can’t afford to put a roof over their head.” He also said, “If you’re a reporter, or an activist, who didn’t give a shit about these suffering Americans until yesterday, I have some advice: Spare your outrage for your fellow citizens suffering under Kamala Harris’s policies. Be outraged at yourself for letting this happen.”
The Tribune reported on another instance of Vance demonstrating his professionalism and confidence in the face of intense criticism from liberal reporters. When questioned about his past statement on “childless cat ladies,” Vance maintained that Democrats should be focused on more pressing matters that have impacted Americans throughout the Biden-Harris administration.

“What I said is very simple: I think American families are good and government policy should be more pro-family. If the media wants to get offended about a sarcastic remark I made before I even ran for the Senate, then the media is entitled to get offended. You know what I’m offended by? That normal Americans can’t afford groceries, that Kamala Harris opened up the American southern border, and I’m offended that she wants to be the people’s president but cannot answer tough questions,” Vance said.
