In a contentious interaction, U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro expressed frustration with the rising youth crime plaguing Washington, D.C., and supported Trump’s suggestion to send in the National Guard to restore order. She argued that young offenders, aged 14-17, are “coddled” and need to face harsh consequences for their actions.
Supporting her remarks, she cited an example where a teenager received probation for involvement in a shooting. While she agreed with the decision to send in national guardsmen, Pirro clarified that the ultimate decision was up to Trump
In any case, the interaction began with an impertinent reporter trying to put Pirro in a corner. The journalist asked, “Do you support a federal takeover of Washington, DC, as the President has suggested?” Responding confidently, the US attorney answered, “That is a decision for the President. And I think that what the President was saying is that we’re seeing far too much crime being committed by young people, 14-15, 1617, years old, and I can’t get my hands on [it].”
Continuing her epic rhetorical beatdown, Pirro continued to demolish the woke DC politicians who enable mass lawlessness. She stated, “Young people are coddled, and they don’t need to be coddled anymore. They need to be held accountable. They shouldn’t be going to arts and crafts and Family Court. They need to understand that enough is enough, and that the DC Council must repeal some of these absurd ordinances and laws that have been passed, as they do nothing to protect the people of this city and district. ”
Turning to a recent example to support her arguments, she noted, “I will reference a case that I wrote an op ed piece on that I’ve been talking about for weeks. Uh, a young person gets on a bus with an illegal gun. There is a family on the bus, and he decides to shoot someone in the chest. There to me, that’s intent to kill, but for the grace of God, that individual did not die.”
Explaining how DC politicians have failed their citizens, Pirro stated, “Now he’s got a gun. It’s illegal. He used the gun. Guess what the sentence was? I got a conviction. The sentence was probation. We can’t have that. And by the way, he wasn’t a kid. He was 19. These are the rules of the DC Council. They’ve got to be changed. We’ve got to have the ability to let young people know that they’re going to be accountable.”
Asking another question, the journalist asked if Pirro was going to preempt the DC Attorney General, saying, “Are you wanting to get your office to take over what Brian Schwab is doing? Do you want to take over juvenile justice here?”

Responding epically, Pirro added, “I’m not trying to do anything. [with] Brian Schwab, all I want to do is clean up DC. That’s why the President put me here. And youth crime is on the rise. In the last four years, we’ve had 150,000 cases of youth violence. Okay, it’s four years ago now. It’s close to half a million cases of youth violence. We’ve got DC as one of the highest murder rates in the country.”
