Speaking to veteran and fill-in host Pete Hegseth on Fox News Channel’s “Jesse Watters Primetime” on Friday, August 30, former Congresswoman from Hawaii and former Democrat Tulsi Gabbard, who now is serving as a member of the Trump Campaign’s transition team, hilariously roasted Vice President Kamala Harris.
Former Rep. Gabbard’s comments on the matter came in the context of Kamala’s interview with CNN’s Dana Bash. The interview was criticized for a number of reasons, not least of which were the impressions that Kamala awkwardly brought along Walz for support, and Bash tried to make it a softball interview for Kamala. it was also pre-recorded rather than live, leading to more criticism.
Tulsi, commenting on the matter and what she sees the interview as having showed, argued that despite Bash’s apparent goal of it being a softball interview for Kamala, it turned into something of a train wreck that showed Kamala as being “out of her depth” and also, in Gabbard’s perspective, showed her to be both “weak” and “afraid.”
Hegseth, broaching the subject, asked Tulsi, “Let’s bring in a member of the Trump transition team, Tulsi Gabbard. Just first, you know you’ve been a part of preparing President Trump for an upcoming debate. You’ve debated Kamala Harris. The bar was very low. This was very easy, very controlled, very little pushback. What did you see?”
Replying, Tulsi first focused on the ridiculous lead-up and hype for the interview that got many more people than might have been initially expected to watch. She said, “Well, first of all, I think let’s just take a step back and look at the lead-up to this massively hyped-up interview. They’ve been hyping this up now for over a month. She’s going to do a big interview before the end of the month, and so everyone was watching.”
Continuing, she noted that “Queen Kamala,” after weeks of interview avoidance, finally did the much-hyped one and showed, in her poor interview, why she hasn’t done one yet. She said, “We’re looking — OK, what is this big interview going to be? Finally, Kamala Harris, after 39 days, Queen Kamala descends from her tower to come and talk to the little people. And then what we saw made very clear what they’ve been trying to hide.”
Tulsi then explained what she saw in the interview, arguing that it made Kamala look quite bad. She said, “She came across as very weak, insecure, clearly out of depth on any kind of issues, and not even knowing where she stands on different issues, or, frankly, what her plans are, and she came across as someone who’s afraid.”
Further, Tulsi explained that the interview showed, in her opinion, what Team Kamala had been attempting to hide, saying, “And what she’s afraid of is that we, the people, will see what she’s trying to hide, and that there will be this moment that the American people will be like that child that has the courage to say, hey guys, the emperor has got no clothes on.”
Concluding, Tulsi told Hegseth, “And that’s her. That’s her right now, and that’s what came across and I think has been made very clear. It will be interesting to see now whether they stick with this strategy of trying to hide her, or whether the American people are going to continue to see who Kamala Harris really is.”
