Speaking during an appearance on Fox News’ Sunday Morning Futures, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard explained that some of the top officials in the Obama Administration, including former President Barack Obama himself, were involved in what she saw as a “coup attempt” against President Donald Trump before his first administration.
As background, Tulsi’s comments on FNC came shortly after she declassified documents showing that senior administration members and the president had launched the “Russian collusion” narrative and investigation despite knowing it had no merit and was based on made-up stories in the Democrat-funded Steele Dossier.
That investigation then proved a significant millstone around the neck of the first Trump Administration, with the investigation into Trump’s supposed ties to the Russians dragging on despite the early intelligence notes that Russia’s small, hamfisted attempts to influence the election by posting a small collection of Facebook memes had not played a role in the Clinton defeat.
In fact, DNI Gabbard declassified documents showing that Comey and Clapper, along with other Obama Administration officials, had been told by intelligence officials that “Russian and criminal actors did not impact recent US election results by conducting malicious cyber activities against election infrastructure.” They rammed through the investigation despite having that information.
Speaking about the situation during her appearance on Sunday Morning Futures, Gabbard explained that what they had so far found was enough to show former President Obama was involved in a “treasonous conspiracy,” saying, “The implications of this are frankly nothing short of historic. Over a hundred documents that we released on Friday really detail and provide evidence of how this treasonous conspiracy was directed by President Obama just weeks before he was due to leave office after President Trump had already gotten elected.”
Continuing, she explained that this should not be considered a small or partisan issue, as it gets to the very root of the rot eating away at the American republic. She said, “This is not a Democrat or Republican issue. This is an issue that is so serious it should concern every single American because it has to do with the integrity of our democratic republic.”
Further, she explained that what had happened showed that the outgoing administration had tried to overturn the results of a fair election, setting up years of squabbles and issues over whether elections are legitimate. She said, “What we saw occur here as the documents we released detailed was that we had a sitting President of the United States and his cabinet and leadership team, quite frankly, who were not happy with the fact that President Trump had won the election, that the American people had chosen Donald J. Trump to be the next President, Commander-in-Chief of the United States.”

That’s when she got to her other major allegation, arguing that Obama and his “senior national security team” had launched a coup against Trump, saying, “So the effect of what President Obama and his senior national security team did was subvert the will of the American people, undermining our democratic republic, and enacting what would be essentially a years-long coup against President Trump, who was duly elected by the American people.”
