Tucker Carlson hasn’t backed down to Fox News and its attempts to silence him. Instead, he’s kept his new show, “Tucker on Twitter,” going and used episode four of it to bash Fox News for backing down from an attack on Biden in which it labeled Biden a “wannabe dictator.”
As background, shortly after Trump appeared in a federal court in Miami to be indicted on Tuesday, Fox News Channel ran an all-caps chyron that read, “WANNABE DICTATOR SPEAKS AT THE WHITE HOUSE AFTER HAVING HIS POLITICAL RIVAL ARRESTED.” That chyron initially heartened conservatives, who thought Fox News might be moving back to the right despite its having fired Tucker. That hope was dashed when Fox News apologized for the chyron, saying that the “chyron was taken down immediately and was addressed.”
Tucker, using that incident to point out what’s wrong with the not-so-conservative news network, said, “Those words were up for less than 30 seconds, but the effect was immediate. Inside Fox, the women who run the network panicked.” Continuing, he said that the producer who resigned less than 24 hours after the chyron was put up “was considered one of the most capable people in the building,” but was then sacrificed on the altar of not being too mean to Democrats.
Carlson went on to joke that Biden is definitely “not a wannabe dictator” even though his DOJ and FBI raided the home of his top political opponent and is now trying to lock that opposition leader up for an act that Biden was caught committing, saying, “Of course, Joe Biden is not a wannabe dictator. Just because he’s trying to put the other candidate in prison for the rest of his life for a crime he himself committed, doesn’t mean he has a totalitarian impulse. Come on. That’s absurd. It takes a lot more than jailing your political rivals to earn the title ‘wannabe dictator.’”
Continuing, Carlson continued to joke about Biden not being a dictator by pointing out the other similarities between tin-pot dictators and Biden, saying that those dictators “enrich themselves and their families, their tribe, even as the countries they govern grow steadily poorer and more desperate.”
He then added that they do things such as sell their influence to interested parties abroad, hinting at the scandal of what Hunter was up to in the Ukraine and China, saying, “They take kickbacks from businesses and from other dictators. They use the official functions of their government to funnel cash to themselves. They don’t bother to hide the fruits of this.”
Then he noted that such dictators also live in huge, beautiful mansions while their impoverished subjects live in miserable shacks or on the street, saying, “They live in garish mansions, with big lawns far from the teeming cities, even as their own citizens languish in growing poverty in some cases, literally living in tents on the street.”
After pointing out the numerous other similarities between Biden and the despots Americans used to abhor, Tucker ended the video by getting in one more jab at Fox News, saying, “Just don’t call it a dictatorship, or we’ll have to issue a statement disavowing you.”
